PCCU Celebrates 85 Years of Service

Eighty-five years ago, the Great Depression left working families in Wayne & Henry Counties without access to credit or a sound institution for saving money. The Teetor Family, owners of the Perfect Circle Piston Ring Company, saw the burden this put on their employees and urged them to form a credit union. The employees organized a board of directors and with sixteen original members Perfect Circle Credit Union was granted a certificate of organization on March 28, 1932, more than two years before President Roosevelt would sign the Federal Credit Union Act.

Looking For A Chance to Make Some Change?

Credit Unions represent what's best about America, people from different walks of life coming together to help one another improve both their own lives and communities. Where everyone contributes what they can and allowing everyone who participates to benefit in one way or another; in short, a not-for-profit, member owned, and democratically controlled co-operative.

I'm Clint Hardin, your current Chairperson of PCCU's Board of Directors. I've found volunteering here is challenging, but rewarding. It's given me numerous chances to grow personally and professionally. Knowing that my service makes a real and lasting difference for my fellow members and their communities feels great! If you'd like to get involved and bring your energies and talents to the table we'd love to have you.

You can read all of Clint's invitation and find out more about serving PCCU here on our website.
EMV Debit Cards Delayed

After we went to press on the quarterly newsletter that accompanies our  quarterly paper statements we found out that the EMV debit cards would be delayed past January. At this time our vendors' programmers are working on correcting the issue so that we can order a new round of sample cards. Then we can test them and insure that they meet our standards and our members can rely on them before we authorize full production.

We apologize for the delay but we don't want to add any more difficulty to the transition for you, or expense, by sending you untested cards. If you have a debit card that is due to expire at the end of January (an expiration date of 01/17) you should receive a new non-EMV card this month. You can go ahead and activate it and use it until you receive an EMV debit card.

You can find updates about EMV debit cards on our site, and in future issues of your PCCU eNews. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
Reducing Thirty Day Loan Amounts

Several years ago in an effort to better tailor our products to meet the needs of members for short term borrowing we increased the amount members could borrow in a Thirty Day Loan from $600 to $800. Though it was supposed to help members improve their monthly cash flow and better enable them to deal with immediate problems as they came up, it has not worked out as we intended. Unfortunately, we have had to accept increased losses from the program and we've had to re-evaluate the product's parameters.

As of March 1st, 2017, the maximum amount of a Thirty Day Loan will go back to the original limit of $600. No additional fees or costs will be added, it will still have just a $5 application fee and a cost of $3 per $100 borrowed, for a maximum payoff amount of $618 if you qualify for and borrow the maximum. The timing of this change will give members a chance to plan and adjust their budgets to the lowered limit, and to step down the size of their Thirty Day Loans over several months.

We encourage all of our members who have used the Thirty Day Loan product with any sort of regularity to speak to a loan officer about other options PCCU has, like writing your Thirty Day Loan into a longer term Personal Loan. This would offer you the chance to make manageable fixed monthly payments with an end day in sight, rather than a cycle of borrowing, paying off, and re-borrowing to make it through another month. We'll work with you to help craft a new budget and on moving from short term fixes to find long term solutions.
