Technology: love it or hate it, it is definitely changing the way we live and work each day.  In the past 5 years, technology has advanced so much that we can do almost everything on our phones.  Need a coffee - you can pay for it with your phone.  Have a cheque to cash - just take a photo to deposit it.  Making a delivery - map your route so you don't get lost.

Ontario Lottery and Gaming  Corporation has selected Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Limited as the service provider for the OLG Casino Thunder Bay. It is anticipated that Gateway will take over operations in Spring 2017. 
 
Weilers Law is pleased to announce the hiring of two graduates from the Charter class of Lakehead University's Bora Laskin Faculty of Law - Hannah Gladstone & Elizabeth (Liz) McLeod.  Hannah advises clients mainly in the area of family law.  Liz practises law primarily in the area of labour relations & employment law.  Both Hannah and Liz are welcome additions to the Weilers Team and we are excited to see what the future holds for this dynamic duo.

Applications are now being accepted for Canada Summer Jobs funding. Canada Summer Jobs provides funding to not-for-profit organizations, public-sector employers and small businesses with 50 or fewer employees to create summer job opportunities for young people aged 15 to 30 years who are full-time students intending to return to their studies in the next school year.  Deadline for applications is January 20th.

Notice to Members: Annual General Meeting
 
As required under the provisions of the Boards of Trade Act, the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce will hold our 53rd Annual General Meeting at 5:00 pm on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at the Victoria Inn Hotel & Convention Centre.

The business meeting will include: the presentation of the Chamber's audited financial statements for the year ended October 31, 2016; appointment of the 2017 Auditor; Nominating Committee report, including remarks by the retiring and incoming Chair of the Board; and, presentations to the retiring Directors. The meeting is also an opportunity for any member to bring new business to the Board and members of the Chamber.
 
The Annual General Meeting is open to members of the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce.  The AGM will be immediately followed by the Chair's Reception with keynote speaker Jesse Hirsh. For more information and to register
