SEASONS GREETINGS
After the hustle and bustle of the holidays, January can be a time when we are all in need of a vacation. Time to get away and relax.  Door County can be the perfect getaway.  It is a quieter time of year in Door County, but there is still plenty to do.  There are winter activities that are in full swing, such as snow shoeing and cross country skiing.  There are still plenty of restaurants and hotels open.  Especially ones with picturesque windows where you can sip hot chocolate by the fire and watch the snow come down.  And you can visit your favorite gift store, the Tannenbaum Holiday Shop!  We are open daily 10am to 5pm Thursday thru Monday (we are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays thru April).

Retirement Sale
Christopher Radko
Our After Christmas Radko Sale is going on now. All of the 2016 retired Radko ornaments are 40% now thru January 31st in our store and on our website. It's a great time to stock up for next year or to pick up a gift for those end of the year parties.
Dept. 56 Villages
We will also be discounting all of the retiring village houses and accessories.  These retiring pieces will be 40% now thru January 31st in the store.  In addition, the retired Dept. 56 Village pieces will be on sale through the month of January on our website. It's a great time to buy a retiring house or two.
Time for Kindness
This last month on Facebook, we mentioned that we were joining the Oliver the Ornament campaign to promote The Kindness of Christmas.  The Kindness of Christmas is an initiative designed to spread kindness  everywhere.  Throughout the month of December, the crew at Oliver the Ornament was collecting ideas of how people can be kind to one another.  This month, the company will be posting those ideas on their website to help inspire the idea of being kind to others (a central theme of the Oliver the Ornament book).

In addition, Oliver the Ornament, has just been named one of the Best New Books by People Magazine.  Come in this week to get your copy of Oliver the Ornament!
Packing Up Ornaments
We mentioned last month about our ornament boxes, but wanted to remind you about them in case you forgot to pick one up.  These boxes contain 12 separate compartments to help you organize and to keep your ornaments safe until next year.  A great way to store your favorite ornaments with no fear for breakage.
Byers Choice Carolers
Out with the old and in with the new....we are excited for the spring carolers to come in!  This year, we have a handful of styles of spring carolers that would be perfect for any collector.
Arriving this January are the Valentine kids, the perfect addition to any holiday display. They are dressed in red/white outfits and holding old fashion "I love you" cards.  There is even a Valentine cat to coordinate with the boy and girl.  For Easter, we have a toddler in the bunny suit and two adorable soft bunnies in grey or brown.
For our chef collectors the new 2017 chef is holding a pot of vegetables.  We love all the fun chefs because they can decorate your kitchen all year long.
And to help you store away your Christmas Carolers we have the Caroler Condo boxes coming back in stock.  Just in time for you to pack away some of your carolers.  The condo is a strong green box that will hold up to 12 carolers.
Tannenbaum Reading Corner
This month we thought we would feature the book The Hat by Jan Brett.  This book tells the story of Hedgie, the hedgehog who finds a lost sock and gets it stuck on his head.  Hedgie goes around the farm showing off his new hat to all his friends.  Each of Hedgie's friends questions him on why he is wearing the hat, which makes him start to wonder if there is something wrong with his hat.  However, in the end it turns out that all of Hedgie's friends were inspired by his hat and wanted to get hats of their own.  This story is a fun one for children who are bundling up for the winter.
Brrr it's cold outside.....
We know that in January (and winter in general), Wisconsin is a little cold and driving conditions can be less than ideal making it difficult to visit the Tannenbaum Holiday Shop.  However, our website is open 24/7!  That way you can sit in your pajamas with hot chocolate watching the snowfall and still shop our collection of gifts and ornaments safe in your own home.
This month's winner of a $50 gift certificate is .......Heather Overdorf. Congratulations!

With winter in full effect, it is the time of year when we roll back our hours.  Starting in January we will be closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  We will be open on Thursday thru Monday from 10 AM to 5 PM.

We hope you will treat yourself to a little get-away time after the holidays and relax in beautiful Door County.  We will be waiting for you!
