Dear Scout Leader/Parent,

Now that the holidays and New Year's is behind us, it's time for Boy Scouts and Boy Scout leaders to plan their advancement through the ranks. Kopernik Observatory has a number of merit badge programs this winter and spring to help with that advancement. In February, Kopernik is offering three different merit badge programs over two different weekends. Please download the form and mail/email/fax it to register as classes are filling up!

Model Design & Building Merit Badge Overnight
Saturday February 4
6:30 p.m.

Kopernik will be holding a  Model Design & Building Merit Badge overnight Scouts will fulfill all the requirements for the badge and have fun with the hands-on activities that will have them learning about architecture and building models.
Prerequisite: Requirement #1




Merit Badge Double Header Overnight
Saturday,  February 11

Electronics Merit Badge
Noon-4 p.m.

Scouts will learn the basics of electronic components and how they are used to create a useful electronic circuit. They will build electronic circuits using innovative, modular Snap Circuit kits, and in addition, will learn how to solder components in a circuit.
Prerequisite: Requirement #6


Engineering Merit Badge 
6:30 p.m.

Scientists discover how things work. Engineers use that information to make something useful! Scouts will build and use a catapult to learn about projectile motion! They will also use air pressure or levers to lift a friend and do many other amazing feats using engineering principles.

Both individual scouts and troops may register for our 
workshops using the forms below. 


Kopernik is offering three additional merit badge workshops later this spring, visit the Boy Scout Merit Badges section of the website for details on the Merit Badge workshops in April and May. After all Kopernik Merit Badge workshops, if clear skies prevail, Kopernik's telescopes will be open for viewing. In the morning, all are treated to a continental breakfast. Scouts are not required to spend the night.
