Youth Kickoff Brunch this Sunday
Following the Back-to-School blessings and celebration at the 9:30 am worship service on
Sunday, August 20, youth and parents are invited to a kick-off brunch in the Fellowship Center at 10:45 am. Come learn more about our plans for the 2017-2018 program year, and invite a neighbor or friend with teens or preteens to join you!

Dear Friend in Faith,
August marks the start of the school year for many of our children, youth, and families at PVUMC. If you listen carefully, you can practically hear the nervous energy of students eagerly starting yet another nine months of group projects, homework, and tests. Whether it’s a child entering their first day of kindergarten or a graduate student writing their doctoral thesis, the start of the school year often represents the beginning of something new.
How appropriate, then, that we should focus on going “back to school” this Sunday during worship. If there was one place for us to celebrate the start of a new school year, full of possibilities and hope, it certainly should be the church! After all, isn’t our God one of new beginnings? In the book of Genesis, we are shown a God that begins the process of creation by making something brand new...

MOPS Begins New Program Year on August 24:
Free Indeed

MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) invites moms with children from birth-age 5 to a group that offers support for new mothers. PVUMC MOPS begins its new program year on
Thursday, August 24
. They meet twice a month, 9-11 am in H7. The theme this year is "Free Indeed." For a $90 annual fee, you'll enjoy a variety of speakers, moms' nights out and international MOPS membership. Email

The Prayers of Intercession are included in the
Looking Ahead. Unless otherwise requested, prayer requests are e-mailed to the 200+ Prayer Team members and shared with pastors and staff. Prayer team members meet on Wednesdays to pray and send cards to those being prayed for that week.
Submit a prayer request using our online request form or call the church office at 602.840.8360. Prayer request cards are also in the pew pockets.

Children's Choir Sign-ups on Sunday, August 20

Students in 1st-6th grade are invited to sign up for Kids Choir on

and start singing as eary as next week,

. The choir will meet right after Sunday School, at 10:45 am in the choir room, A4. If you have little ones, Mini Singers with Shari Paris begins THIS

Bible Blast for 3rd and 4th Graders
