Waldorf Update

The Tacoma Waldorf School, who has been our tenant for six years, has outgrown our space, so in June 2017, they will be leaving.  This gives Mason Church the opportunity to reclaim our Christian Education Space for the purpose of ministry and mission.  We will have the exciting task of getting the space ready for the mission and ministry that is to come.  During Advent and Christmas, we raised over $7,000 to help with that transition (buying new furniture and décor) and starting new mission and ministries.  If  you would like to give to the cause, you still have time.  Simply write "Christian Ed Wing" on your check or envelope, or, if donating online, use the "other" column and type in "Christian Ed Wing."  Thank you for your support as we look to the future!

Half Truths: God Helps Those Who Help Themselves and Other Things the Bible Doesn't Say
January 8 - February 5, 11:15 AM - Noon

They are simple phrases.  They sound Christian -- like something you might find in the Bible.  We've all heard these words.  Maybe we've said them.  They capture some element of truth, yet they miss the point in important ways. Join us in our search for the whole truth by comparing the following common Christian sayings with the wisdom found in Scripture:
·   "Everything Happens for a Reason,"
·   "God Helps Those Who Help themselves,"
·   "God Won't Give You More Than You Can Handle,"
·   "God Said It, I Believe It, That Settles It," and
·   "Love the Sinner, Hate the Sin.

You're invited to join us for Adult and Youth Sunday School classes, January 8 - February 5, 11:15 AM - Noon, to discuss these interesting topics.  Twenty books are available for $14 each.  (It is also available at cokesbury.com, amazon.com, as an Audible book, and as an eBook.)

Is There a Way to Heaven?
January 15 - February 26

Is there a way to heaven?  The great evangelist John Wesley believed there is, and he developed his theology to help people make the journey from sin to salvation.  God's grace is the keynote from start to finish.  Using the key resource, The Way to Heaven by Rev. Dr. Steve Harper, Pastor Stephanie will lead the congregation through a study of Wesley's understanding of grace and how grace impacts our daily living.  Twenty copies of the book will be available for $12 each beginning in January. (It is also available at cokesbury.com, amazon.com, as an Audible book, and as an eBook.)
