Welcome to the 2017-18 School Year!

It's almost time to open the doors on a new school year in EMS ISD! Included in this back-to-school edition of EMS ISD eNews, you will find important dates and information to help you connect with your child's school and prepare for the first day of classes on Monday, August 21.

All students, including students who attended an EMS ISD school last year, need to have online registration completed for the 2017-2018 school year in order to pick up their schedules (middle and high) or be included on a class list (elementary). Begin the online registration process here.

The online process takes about 10 minutes per child to complete. Anyone who is unable to access the online system should contact their child's campus to discuss options for registration as soon as possible.

Elementary

All elementary schools, with the exception of Gililland and Lake Pointe, start school at 7:35 a.m. and end at 2:40 p.m. Gililland and Lake Pointe start at 8:25 a.m. and end at 3:30 p.m.

Middle School

All middle schools start at 8:25 a.m. and end at 3:30 p.m.

High School

Boswell, Chisholm Trail, and Saginaw High Schools start at 9:05 a.m. and end at 4:20 p.m. Watson High School begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 3:36 p.m.

Alternative Discipline Center

8:25 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Pre-Kindergarten: Hafley Development Center

Morning Session: 7:55-11:00 a.m.
Afternoon Session: 12:25-3:35 p.m.

On-Site After-School Program available at all Elementary Schools

All EMS ISD elementary campuses now offer after-school programs through a partnership with the Northwest YMCA. New this year - Gililland Elementary! Learn more about the program by contacting the YMCA at 817-237-7237.

Each year to celebrate the start of a new school year, we ask parents and guardians to send their favorite back-to-school photo to [email protected]. All photos submitted give the district permission to use them in district publicity. Be sure to check the district's Facebook and Twitter pages for updates showcasing our students and teachers on the first day of school and don't forget to tag your posts: #emsproud #ems1stday2017

New District Website Launching Today!

We are excited to unveil the new EMS ISD website just in time for the start of school! The new site is designed to provide easy access to information, news and resources; offer easier navigation from a variety of mobile devices; and maintain compliance with required web standards. All district and campus pages will be transitioning to the new system Thursday evening.

Thank you for your patience as teachers and staff learn the new system and work to update their pages with current information over the coming days and weeks. If you are unable to find what you're looking for during the transition, please email your child's teacher or appropriate staff member directly.

Old Decatur Road Construction Update

The construction on Old Decatur Road is part of a City of Fort Worth waterline construction project. While the district is not involved in the project, the construction and increased traffic will provide an additional challenge for several of EMS ISD campuses once school begins.

The district has been working with the city, the contractor, and local police on plans to help traffic flow through the construction area as smoothly as possible. Specific plans have been developed and are being shared with parents at Bryson, Willow Creek, and Wayside Middle School this week. Safety - not speed - is our number 1 goal and everyone's cooperation and adherence to the traffic plan will be necessary.

Police will be assisting with traffic management next week. Motorists who do not have a business or school reason to be in the area are urged to find alternate routes. Although school will be in session starting Monday, the road will remain an active construction area. The city is urging drivers to slow down and watch for workers, pedestrians, school buses, police officers and construction equipment. Delays should be expected and we encourage you to allow extra time to get your child to and from school.
