Connect With All Saints
|
|
|
|
Welcome to All Saints Church! |
From Fr. Jim Harrison
|
"and so our service begins..."
At the end of every service at All Saints we are dismissed with the words, "Our worship has ended and so our service begins. Let us go forth to love and serve the Lord." Along with providing us an opportunity to give thanks to God for the blessing of this life (the term Eucharist comes from the Greek by way of Latin, and it means "thanksgiving"), our worship also renews us for the work of discipleship - loving and serving others as our Lord loves and serves us.
There are many ways in which we do that - too many to name here - but I would like to share some distinct ways in which we can do so. Some of which we already take part in.

Other upcoming opportunities:
School Supply Collection for Harbor House - Now through September 1
A good education is enhanced by having the proper supplies for school. Harbor House Domestic Abuse Shelter is hoping to provide their residents and others in need with those supplies. All Saints wants to help them out. Please bring basic school supplies to the church building between now and the beginning of September. A list of requested items can be found
here.
Habitat for Humanity Rock the Block - Saturday, September 16
This Fall, Habitat for Humanity will take on the Columbus School neighborhood of Appleton (just west of All Saints) and alongside residents, community members and the Habitat family will transform this community and improve lives. Imagine over 500 of your closest friends, family and community members circling around this neighborhood, coming together and lifting it up through park clean ups, exterior home repairs, landscaping, painting and more! All Saints is partnering with area churches to provide volunteers and to support Lawrence University student volunteers. After a morning of work, we will all gather for a free lunch at Memorial Presbyterian at 12:30pm on Saturday, September 16!
Feed the Body, Feed the Soul - Packin' while Jammin' - Friday/Saturday, October 13/14
To combat hunger in Northeast Wisconsin, Oshkosh Corporation and Fox Communities Credit Union partnered with Mile of Music to promote three paid concerts for which every ticket sold helped feed people in our neighborhood. At Packin' while Jammin', volunteers will package rice at Feeding America as Mile of Music performers keep us motivated by sharing their musical talents. More information coming...

As I mentioned above, there are any number of other ways in which the people of All Saints serve each other and our neighbors - for that I give thanks! Let me know if you have a great way to live out your call to service. Maybe there are others who would like to join you!
Peace and blessings, Fr. Jim+

From the Director of Youth Ministry, Erin Wolf

Greetings and salutations!
THANK YOU
so much to everyone who had any part to play with Vacation Bible School (VBS) this year! A special THANK YOU goes to Missy Harrison for being my co-leader and helping bring VBS to All Saints! We had over 20 students join us throughout the week for "God's Garden, God's City" with stories, activities, crafts, songs, and more. We couldn't do what we do without all the help and support of volunteers, donors, clergy, students, and families. Thank you all!
School Supply Drive for Harbor House:
From now until September 1, we will collect school supply donations for Harbor House here in Appleton. Even if you don't have children in school, this is a great way to help local kids and families in need.
A list of materials needed can be found HERE.
Sunday School & Youth Group
will resume on Sunday, September 10. Registration will be from 9:00-9:50am that morning in the Undercroft. Sunday School meets Sundays from 9:00-9:50am and is open to grades 4K-12. Youth Group meets Sundays from 6:30-8:00pm in the Youth Room and is open to grades 6-12. All upcoming events can be found at the
All Saints Youth Ministry website.
CROP Walk
will take place on Sunday, October 8. Any students interested in walking with Youth Group should contact Erin Wolf
.
Fall Lock-In
is an annual diocesan retreat for students in grades 6-12, and this year will be held October 27-29. Location & registration details will be announced soon.
Student News
We like to include news about current All Saints students to build support within our faith community. Please send any student updates here to be included in future newsletters!
Thank you to Georgia Parnau and Mallory Retzlaff for being student leaders during Vacation Bible School!
If you want to hear more about VBS, be sure to ask Henry, Jorden, Duncan, Julia, Cade, Abby, Kendall, Charlie, Fletcher, or Connor about their experiences! You'll usually find them enjoying coffee hour in the nursery after church on Sunday mornings.
