Dr. King's words - "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that" - speak loudly to researchers. I like to think that we have had the ability to shine at least a little bit of light by means of our research activities at Wilder Research, our engagement with communities and institutions, and our continuous searching for insight regarding the most significant social issues which face our society today.   

As a keynote presenter at the 1967 conference of the American Psychological Association, Dr. King advised the social scientists in attendance: "White America needs to understand that it is poisoned to its soul by racism and the understanding needs to be carefully documented and consequently more difficult to reject." He suggested three areas of study which he felt deserved research and which could promote the cause of civil rights. Although some of his...

New Staff

Please join us in welcoming two new staff who joined Wilder Research in late 2014. Welcome Ellen and Colleen!

Ellen Mai is a research associate with the Minnesota
Compass project. She analyzes trends in areas that impact our quality of life in Minnesota and presents findings to a variety of stakeholder groups across the state. Ellen came to Wilder from Target Corporation.

Colleen O'Brien oversees database projects for
Wilder Research clients, including Minnesota's
Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) and the Sprockets Shared Database, an out-of-school time
tracking system. Colleen's background includes a mix of mission-driven, entrepreneurial, and technology-oriented efforts.

Northside Achievement Zone
The Northside Achievement Zone (NAZ) is a collaboration of community organizations and schools partnering with families in North Minneapolis to prepare children to graduate from high school ready for college. A 2014 Year-End Report is newly available. You can also coverage of the results in the Star Tribune and Minnesota Public Radio.

Film in the City
Film in the City is an arts learning program that offers homeless youth in the Twin Cities an opportunity to learn filmmaking skills from professional artists, as well as express themselves through the art of film. Reports include program evaluation results.
