Hate and bigotry still exists. What are you going to do about it ?

The recent demonstration of hate that occurred in Charlottesville, Virginia, represents the loud sounding alarm to the American people, that there remain pockets of bigotry, racism, antisemitism, misogyny, hatred, and ignorance in our beautiful country. It is also an indication that we must stay the course of strengthening our educational policies, in combating  intolerance, bigotry, and hatred throughout our nation.

In light of the above occurrence, I'm pleased to inform you, that our new course of action for our troubled times - the "Tour for Tolerance" project, is moving forward to be up and running in 2018. As a reminder, the Tour is an immersive learning experience, housed in a converted, high-tech bus, (about the size of a New York City bus) to visit schools, academic institutions, and arenas, in providing tolerance education, illuminating the need for mutual understanding. Once aboard, more than 50 thousand students annually, will witness and explore historical events. By inspiring people of all backgrounds, we will create a powerful force for peaceful coexistence, empathy, tolerance and individual responsibility.

Nowhere should it be more evident than the United States, that dignity and respect are the birthright of all people.  The future of many is more threatened by intolerance, which repudiates the shared humanity upon which diversity, peace, and prosperity grow.   As Americans, and in the spirit of young leaders, the likes of Andrew Goodman, Mickey Schwerner, and James Chaney, help us find the best in each other. Together, we must remain on the front line in supporting and helping others to understand that they can be part of positive change for a better future.  That together, we have an opportunity to do everything in our power in building the next generation.

We see the" Tour for Tolerance "as a tool to teach equity, diversity, and humanity. While others stand behind the barricades of yesterday, the Tour for Tolerance will build the bridges of tomorrow.
