WIOA - What you need to know

Thank you to everyone who has attended a Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA) informational meeting so far. The meetings are required for guardians/individuals served by Opportunity Partners who are paid through Opportunity Partners (Production or SET employment). You will learn about new federal changes that affect you and actions you must take to satisfy the requirements of the new regulations. The Metropolitan Center for Independent Living is leading the meetings. For meetings at OP locations, advance registration is required due to limited space; no registration is needed for community meetings. View the  meeting schedule.
Contact legislators before January 3

On December 2, state officials issued the November budget forecast, projecting a $1.4 billion surplus for the fiscal year 2018-2019 budget biennium. What does this mean for our disability policy agenda?

A budget surplus helps the economic and political case for our policy agenda priorities, specifically seeking increased reimbursements to support higher wages for staff. However, it also emboldens other advocacy groups and policymakers to strengthen their funding requests. Please take this opportunity to educate your legislators on the work we do and why more state funding is needed to recruit and retain staff and meet our commitment to people with disabilities in Minnesota.
