A most heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated to PATH Intl. on Giving Tuesday and also on Colorado Gives Day.
There is still time before the end of the year to make a gift to PATH Intl. Your donations will go to the PATH Intl. Disaster Relief Fund to help centers with an immediate need in meeting expenses after natural or manmade catastrophic disasters. Or your gift could go to the special education teachers outreach campaign, as we promote the profession by helping to raise national awareness.
Donate today to PATH Intl.
Thank you for your generous support of PATH Intl. and equine-assisted activities and therapies.

Thank you for your commitment to safety, ethical practices and professionalism in equine-assisted activities and therapies. To ensure that PATH Intl. continues to provide your center with premium education and to maintain uninterrupted access to the wealth of benefits available to PATH Intl. centers,
please renew your center membership by December 31.
Online center renewal for 2017 is available, and it is especially easy to renew your membership before it expires. With the elimination of paper, you'll end any worry about losing your form on the desk or in the mail.
Click here to renew online. NOTE: The center's primary contact or executive director must be logged in to his or her personal account in order to renew online.
If you need to update the primary contact for your center, please send in a
center change notification form or a
premier accredited center change notification form.
Of course, if you prefer to send in a hard copy renewal, that is still an option. Download and complete the
center renewal booklet and renewal invoice, and mail it in.
Centers that prefer to pay by check may now complete the center renewal booklet online and mail or use an electronic check for center membership dues.
For more information about renewing your center membership, please visit our
FAQ page or the
Center Renewal page.
On November 14, 2016, an email went out to the personal email addresses of the assigned primary contacts for PATH Intl. Centers with information about renewing center membership. If you are the primary contact of a center, and did NOT receive the email from Karen Province, please call the office or contact
Karen so that we can double check our records and the email address we have on file.

Partnership: Who Is Leading the Dance By Marcie Ehrman and Jo Anne Miller, Equine Welfare Committee Members
Partnering with our equines in equine-assisted activities and therapies was a recurring theme throughout the 2016 PATH Intl. Conference last month in Williamsburg, VA. Four members of the Equine Welfare Committee participated in a full-day workshop at Community Connections to a standing room only crowd. It was a wonderfully interactive session, with members of the audience asking insightful questions, making meaningful comments and offering valuable feedback. We spoke about recognizing our equine partners as sentient beings, the Five Freedoms, retirement and end of life decisions, and exploring ways to provide an excellent quality of life during and after our equine's work. We discussed the importance of and challenges around developing guidelines for determining an acceptable weight limit and workload for each of our program equines.
One of the predominant themes of the day was the dance we engage in each time we work with our horses, as they are our partners in this profession

The PATH Intl. Equine Welfare Committee is committed to refining and deepening our perspective of equine well-being to include the physical, mental and emotional well-being of our wonderful four-legged partners. Join us on this journey. Please add your thoughts on the PATH Intl. Community Connections page. It is our desire that these tips start a further discussion on Community Connections. Any thoughts? We appreciate hearing from you!

NEW Online Courses Available

NEW PATH Intl. Standards Course
PATH Intl. is committed to making education for members more accessible by continuing to build its online course library. Currently, PATH Intl. only offers the standards course in person for individuals going through the accreditation or certification process. To increase the accessibility and address the high demand for this course, a new online PATH Intl. Standards Course will launch in January 2017! This interactive, multi-module course is designed to help the learner gain a thorough understanding of the importance and application of the standards. Due to this new course being more comprehensive and appropriate for a wider audience, the online CAT Course exam will be phased out during the 2017 calendar year. As of February 1st 2017, all new certification and accreditation/reaccreditation applicants will be enrolled in the online standards course. All accreditation/reaccreditation and certification applications available on the website will be updated as of January 1, 2017 to reflect this eventual transition.
What does this mean for you?
Click here for a sampling of scenarios to illustrate how this new course and requirements might affect your situation.
Want to be among the first to take the new online course?
Priority registration will be granted for those individuals who pre-purchase the January course now. Once purchased, registrants will be automatically enrolled in the course that begins the first week of January. Confirmation emails with access information will be sent in January.
If you have questions about the new requirements and course, please contact
Sara DePape for questions related to accreditation; for questions related to certification, please contact
Bret Maceyak.
PATH Intl. Mentor Training Course
This four-week mentor training course meets the requirements to become an official PATH Intl. Mentor. Quality mentorship is a key component to achieving any level or discipline of certification. This skill development program has been created in response to the need for a formalized education process to enhance the skills of those who mentor. The objective is to increase the number of qualified mentors available to instructors in training and to provide current PATH Intl. Certified Professionals with a continuing education opportunity while enhancing personal observation, evaluation and feedback skills.
