Farmers Market Exclusive: Liquid Riot Beer Release

Yarmouth Farmers Market
Thursday, August 17th 3-6pm
Hi Local Food Lovers,

A wonderful Yarmouth Farmers Market tradition will continue this week when the Garden Explorers return to sell what they've grown during summer camp at the  Yarmouth Community Garden.

Yea! The Garden Explorers Are Coming to Market This Thursday
The field trip is a summer  highlight for the kids, because it gives them the chance to mingle with Real Farmers and to practice their customer relations skills. They should have cups of cherry tomatoes, basil bunches, hand painted cards, and small flower bouquets. Please stop by and and ask them a question. :) All proceeds will help grow next year's garden.

The truth is the campers are not all that much younger than some of our vendors. In fact, the make-up of our Farmers Market reflects a youthful trend in the Maine agriculture scene, where the number of farmers under the age of 35 continues to grow.

Musings aside, our farmers' stalls will be overflowing with produce this week. Thank you August!   Andrews Farm will bring tomatoes of all shapes and sizes and chili poblanos which are great for stuffing. Tender Soles Farm has all your salsa needs covered. Go see them for  hot peppers and tomatillos.

Andrew's Farm has Chili Poblanos. Roast 'em and Stuff 'em With Something Yummy for a Perfect Vegetarian meal.
The Somali Bantu Farmers will bring a variety of greens including Collards, Kale and Chard.

If you haven't tried collards, try removing the center stem, washing, chopping and steaming the leaves in a flavored broth. Or,  if you're like my southern grandmother, just melt and fry the greens in heart-stopping quantities of bacon fat.

Give Collard Greens a Chance. A Million Grandmothers Can't Be Wrong
Vendors will have both high bush and wild berries on Thursday and if you want to lay in a supply for later,
this is the last week to order in bulk from Spring Brook Farm. Stop by and see Kay to place your order.

Thanks as always for supporting the farmers of today and perhaps the farmers of tomorrow.

See you Thursday!
