Soundings Newsletter - Campus news for the Saint Joe family.
Dear Families and Friends of Saint Joseph,

We eagerly welcome the Class of 2021 and our transfer students as they join the Saint Joe family. It is hard to believe that we are starting year six in this beautiful new (I still think of it as new!) facility where we enjoy Friday night football games, soccer, and lacrosse games on Father Bly Field in Leighton Stadium, one-act plays and retreats in the Black Box Theater, and happy students in the hallways and classrooms.

The traditions of academic excellence, faith, and service have been carried forward to 453, and we take pride in continuing to make a difference in the lives of our students. Helping our students grow in faith and character defines our responsibility as a Catholic school. We will persist in engaging our students; we will love them and teach them. Our teachers ensure that our students participate in active and authentic learning and utilize their creativity to solve real-life problems through collaboration with their peers. We are educating our students in heart and mind, and the privilege of being in Catholic education is a daily blessing for the faculty and staff.

May the Holy Spirit continue to nourish all of us as we answer the call set forth by the bishops to "sustain and strengthen" Catholic schools. May our students use their extraordinary gifts and abilities to represent themselves and Saint Joseph High School at the highest level. We continue to answer God's call and will focus on serving with joy this year. Our Day of Service in November will be a dream come true for me.

As members of the Saint Joe community, let all of us, faculty and staff, parents and students, join efforts in being witnesses to our faith and servants to those in need as we continue to make our school a place where our students spread the Gospel and make God known, loved, and served. May the 2017-18 academic year be filled with wonderful memories and tremendous achievements.

Saint Joseph, pray for us.
Susan Richter

Greetings from the Saint Joseph High School Parent Group!

We would like to introduce you to a wonderful way to get involved in your student's education. In addition to the opportunities given through volunteering with your child's sports and academic pursuits, the parent group provides help to the school with a show of support to the entire staff at Saint Joseph High School. Being a part of these activities gives you a better sense of the true heart of our school, enables you to meet teachers and staff in other venues, and provides a better understanding of where your student spends his/her days. For more information or to get involved contact Mrs. Aimeé Matthews at agm.fbb@gmail.com
Beginning the 2017-18 academic year with new ideas and plans, we are excited about the many possibilities to make a difference in the lives of your students. We appreciate your past participation in the Indian Pride Student Raffle, but after listening to the comments shared by our Saint Joe family, we have decided to move away from the raffle.

This year, we are asking each family to prayerfully consider a participation level to support our annual fund, The Fund for Saint Joseph. This fund is vital to our operating budget and allows the unrestricted funds to be used in a variety of areas, including financial assistance, capital improvements, faculty enrichment programs, classroom resources, and improvements for our cocurricular programs, including athletics.

Stay tuned for more information regarding The Fund for Saint Joseph. Our 900 students are the reasons why we ask our families to participate in this annual appeal. The generosity of our Saint Joe families and friends allows us to fulfill our mission and transform our students in heart and mind. Thank you, in advance, for your support and participation. God calls ... you answer.
The Scholarship Granting Organization of Northeast Indiana (SGONEI), an initiative
of the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend, is authorized by the Indiana Department of Revenue and the Department of Education to solicit contributions from donors for tuition assistance to be awarded to qualifying families whose children attend Catholic schools.

As a donor (small business, corporate or individual) to the SGONEI, Inc., you can receive an Indiana State tax credit equal to 50% of the amount given, in addition to the federal tax deduction, for a charitable contribution.

Your gift to SGONEI will help Saint Joseph High School offer scholarships to qualifying students and families in grades 9-12. These scholarships provide a path to the School Choice Scholarship Program and remove the financial constraints on low-income Indiana household that choose the best education for their children.
