A Statement On The Events In Charlottesville, Virginia
Dear Cascade Family and Friends,

The recent events in Charlottesville, Virginia are a reminder that the sting of racism still exists. We first express our deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in this senseless act of hate and continue to lift those injured in our prayers. 

In his "Letter from a Birmingham Jail," Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. reminded America that "injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." In 2017, on American soil, we are witnessing the threat to justice. From the killings of unarmed people of color by law enforcement, to the constant threat of economic disparity in minority communities, injustice is seemingly ruling our land.

As we continue to reflect on Sunday's message and service, we wanted to share this rendition of "We Shall Overcome" by the Morehouse College Glee Club. We hope that this key anthem of the Civil Rights movement will serve as a reminder of both where we've come as a community and the torch that we should continue to carry as the Body of Christ. Restoring Hope, Restoring The Future!

Cascade's Restoring Hope Ministry hosted a barrier-breaking Community Expungement Workshop in collaboration with the Fulton County District Attorney's Office and the Fulton County Solicitor General's Office. This gathering garnered excellent attendance and outcomes, allowing those with (non-felony) criminal records opportunities for new beginnings. Cascade's work as "A Light In The Community" will help citizens to vote and to lay hold of basic rights that many of us take for granted. The Restoring Hope Ministry shepherded a life-changing and shape-shifting event that many will cherish for a lifetime, reminding us all that restoration is a pivotal part of the Body of Christ.
