Mural Project - 2017

Artists Mika Seeger and Peter Geisser are designing ceramic murals for the Tiverton Public Library that depict the essence of our town. They will hold four workshops at the Library for public input: from 10:30-noon on Saturdays, Jan. 14 and 28; and from 6:30 to 8pm on Wednesday, Jan. 25 and Monday, Jan. 30. A fifth workshop will be held at the Tiverton Senior Center on Tuesday, Jan. 24 from 12:30-2pm. Please come, bring your ideas on what makes Tiverton unique, and help create a lasting reflection of our community!

Each workshop will consist of a short slide show followed by time for discussion and gathering ideas and themes in both words and images. Themes may look to the past or present or future. These images and ideas will be posted in the Library for the public to see and add to. The artists will then develop cartoons (full size drawings) that will be exhibited in the Library for public comment.

From this input, the artists will create the murals in Stoneware Sculptural Relief and mosaic. Several hands-on sessions will be offered to the public where they will craft detailed pieces that can be incorporated into the murals.

For more information, contact the Library at 401-625-6796.
