Ingleside Construction Update
DC allows construction work Mondays - Saturdays (7 AM - 5 PM) with moderate to heavy noise expected next door to Temple Sinai at Ingleside, as their major construction work continues through the coming 2+ years. The exception to this schedule is that NO construction noise or visible activity is permitted on the High Holy Days. Any traffic related to construction vehicles will likely not conflict with traffic coming to and from the temple and there will be a temporary construction fence installed between our property and theirs.  You can find more detailed information on their website.
Refugee Resettlement Program Update
Thanks to the extraordinary kindness of Anne Rose and her daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Ricardo Vasquez, Abdull Bari has started working on a local jobsite as an assistant welder. The work is short-term, but there is a possibility that it may lead to full time employment! To help with financial planning in connection with this work, we need some guidance from an accountant. If you can help, please contact Catherine or Andrea. In addition, with Abdull Bari working very long days, we want to establish a cohort of volunteers to help Zeya Gul learn to navigate her neighborhood and take more responsibility for household chores, like shopping, filling prescriptions, and making doctors' appointment. If you would like to join Team Zeya Gul, please let Catherine or Andrea know.
SOCIAL ACTION
Have events in Charlottesville motivated you to learn more and to act for racial justice?  Here are some ways:

Read about the RAC's Urgency of Now Initiative, and read the Brit Olam that Temple Sinai clergy and lay leaders signed at the RAC's April 2017 Consultation on Conscience. Then consider ways you can support Sinai's commitments to act in solidarity with vulnerable communities, and on immigration/refugee assistance; criminal and racial justice and mass incarceration, and protection of LGBTQ students and others. You can also check out the TS website.
