Walk/Bike to School Challenge Wrap-up
The City of Marshfield, as part of the Safe Routes to School program, held the
Students at Washington Elementary School await the announcement for this year's bike winner as community partners of the Walk/Bike to School Challenge display the grand prize.
Walk/Bike  to School Challenge  during the  month of October. Students were encouraged to track the number of days they walked or bicycled to school. Bussed students or those unable to  walk or ride a bicycle to school were able to participate in alternative physical activities as determined by their parents, teachers, or schools.  Participating students were entered into a drawing for a chance to win one of several prizes, including a bicycle. The HL-MAC was there during the prize giveaway event.  It was great to see the students' enthusiasm and see them be rewarded for their efforts! Our School Wellness Committee is currently working on strategies to enhance student participation for next year's Walk/Bike to School Challenge.
Healthy Lifestyles Volunteer Opportunities
Happy New Year! The beginning of the year is a great time to become more involved in the community! Consider volunteering for the HL-MAC. We have volunteer opportunities for every kind of interest. This month, the HL-MAC will be introducing two new community outreach opportunities. If you enjoy meeting new people and engaging with the community, you'll love being a Community Ambassador! For those that want to help promote a healthy lifestyle among their co-workers, the Coalition Champion opportunity is for you. There are also opportunities to help Marshfield Clinic Youth Net afterschool students in the Garden Buds program. If you are interested in learning more, you can find all of our postings on our VolunteerMarshfield.com agency page,   [email protected], or call 715-221-8400.
