A Message From Mr. Stoops

We are now just a day away from the students returning to Guardian Angels for the 2017-2018 school year! I am very excited to welcome our angels back and look forward to a productive and positive year full of spiritual, academic, emotional, and physical growth!

Our school year theme is "Make a Joyful Noise" based on Psalm 100 which states,

Shout joyfully to the Lord, all you lands;
serve the Lord with gladness;
come before him with joyful song.

Know that the Lord is God,
he made us, we belong to him,
we are his people, the flock he shepherds.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
his courts with praise.

Give thanks to him, bless his name;
good indeed is the Lord,
His mercy endures forever,
his faithfulness lasts through every generation.

As the teachers will be using this as an inspiration and guiding theme throughout the year, working with your children to understand its meaning and importance, I encourage you to also include this in your discussions with your children. We have many reasons to shout joyfully to the Lord, showing him thanksgiving for his mercy, faithfulness, and love for us. I look forward to a school year full of many reasons to "make a joyful noise!"

God Bless,
Corey
Back To School Reminders & Dates

We have some exciting events planned to kickoff our 2018-2018 school year. Details are below.
  • Our first day of school is Thursday, August 17.
  • Our Opening Ceremony will be held at 9:00am on the 17th.
  • The first all school Mass will be held Wednesday, August 23 at 8:15am.

  • Meet the Teacher Night is Tuesday, August 29. The social hour begins at 6:00pm in the PC Gym.
Emergency Medical Form

We sent the Emergency Medical Information form home as an attachment to an email previously sent through Rediker (the parent portal). All parents must fill this out and return it to the school office on the first day of school. Having the document returned then will allow us to have the proper emergency information if an incident occurs with your child(ren).
All Call System

Today, all parents will receive a phone call from Guardian Angels School. This is a test of our emergency all-call system. If you do not receive a phone call, please contact Jill Buchmann, administrative assistant, in the school office at 624-3141 or [email protected]. The numbers called today will be used to notify you of any emergency situation such as a weather-related school closing. Please verify that all numbers you would like contacted during an emergency receive this call.
Arrival and Dismissal

Please keep the following arrival and dismissal procedures forefront as we enter the new school year! It is our top priority to keep all of our angels safe.
  1. Do not drop students off before 7:30. Proper supervision is not in place before this time.
  2. All parents should drop off using the carline system unless a special circumstance requires you to walk your child to the school building. If there is a special circumstance, please cross the traffic pattern by gaining the attention of the staff member on duty.
  3. Morning carline ends promptly at 7:55, allowing all students to be in their classrooms for instruction beginning at 8:00. Students not in their classrooms by 8:00 will be considered tardy.
  4. At the end of the day, all students being picked up will be released to our safe, holding spot.  Parents should pick up their children from this holding spot. Students are not to enter the parking lot without being accompanied by their parent.
Updated School Handbook Policies

Food Allergy Policy:  To ensure the safety of all students, any food product brought into the school must be on the GA Safe Food List. No homemade foods or items from bakeries can be brought into school. We greatly appreciate your adherence to this policy, as we continuously work to keep all angels safe.  The GA Safe Food List can be found under the "Parents" section of the school website.

Uniform Policy:  As communicated last year, we have articulated specific standards for girls' uniforms. The policy now states: Uniform plaid skort or split skirt, extending to a maximum height of 2 inches or less above the crease at the back of the knee, purchased from Lands' End or Schoolbelles. The Uniform Code has become part of the Code of Discipline. Students will receive a "point" for each violation of the uniform policy beyond an initial warning.
