On December 13th, MassCommute, the coalition of TMAs of which the North Shore TMA is a part, honored the biggest advocates of transportation demand management (TDM) in the region. We are pleased to report that the North Shore TMA's own Aaron Clausen from the City of Beverly was one of three people honored. Aaron was recognized with the 'TDM Champion' award for promoting
alternative commuting options in Beverly by championing the City's Complete Streets program and supporting the implementation of the Beverly Bike Plan. Congratulations, Aaron! See the Beverly Patch's coverage of this event...
Fare Collection on the T: Call for Feedback
On December 20th at 1:00 PM, the North Shore TMA will sponsor a meeting with MBTA officials at Salem State University's Enterprise Center to discuss its Automated Fare Collection (AFC) 2.0 initiative. AFC 2.0 aims to streamline paying for MBTA fares using Tap and Go technology, among other advancements. The AFC 2.0 effort will have a strong impact on commuting on the North Shore, specifically for those who use the bus and commuter rail. Interested commuters who cannot attend the meeting are encouraged to view the presentationand share feedback with the NSTMA by December 31st.
SSU and City of Salem Roundtable: A Debrief
On November 9th, the NSTMA hosted a roundtable discussion on bicycle and pedestrian safety with representatives from Salem State University and the City of Salem. Several members from the Sustainability Committee at Salem State University were in attendance as well. On November 14th, the Salem Partnership hosted a meeting about the proposed South Salem commuter rail station. Based on feedback from those in attendance, the placement of the stop was moved slightly further to the north to minimize the impact to residential neighbors. More information...
Upcoming NSTMA Bulletin
In an effort to learn more about how the NSTMA can support you better, starting next month, we will distribute a brief article via email followed by a one-question poll asking for reader participation and feedback. The article/poll will also be posted on our website. We don't want to give it all away, but our inaugural article/poll will have something to do with taking Uber and/or Lyft as part of your commute. Please check our website in mid-January for details. The results of the poll will be reported on in our next newsletter, which will go out in mid-February.
