Crane Navigator
The digital screens have improved sales on advertised products by as much as 30 percent for Whitacre's Food Express.

USConnect, a national network of independent foodservice companies, expects the recently introduced Crane Navigator Touch retrofit screens to give a boost to the digital advertising program that began this year in its partnership with Crane Connectivity Solutions.  The program currently allows vending operators to collect revenue for ads running on the Crane "Media" machines powered by USConnect.

Jeff Whiticacre
Jeff Whitacre is enthusiastic about digital advertising.
Jeff Whitacre, president and CEO of USConnect as well as Food Express, a Greensboro, North Carolina based full line services provider, expects more advertisers to come on board, partly on account of the new retrofit screens that will carry the ads to thousands more machines.

Advertising orders for the program from vend product manufacturers have been sold out through the third quarter of 2017, said Whitacre.

Little Caesars Tests 'Pizza Portal' For Customers
Little Caesars
Customers do not have to wait to pick up an ordered pizza.
Little Caesars has simplified the process of picking up a pizza with a Pizza Portal for pizzas ordered via mobile devices.

Customers use the "Reserve-N-Ready" system that keeps pizzas hot for pickup. The system is in test in select stores and will expand to other markets later this year.

Customers place an order and pre-pay via a mobile app. The app notifies the customer when the order is ready. When the customer arrives at the store, they skip the line and go directly to the Pizza Portal and input a 3-digit pin or scan a QR code. The door on the customer's secured compartment opens, and they take their hot, fresh order.

The Pizza Portal's proprietary technology has been co-developed with Apex Supply Chain Technologies, a provider of automated dispensing systems, exclusively for Little Caesars.

Leer Ice Machine
The VM40 has a self-locking door that releases when a credit card is swiped.
Leer, Inc. USA has introduced an all-steel construction ice vending machine. The VM40 delivers a distinctive contemporary look and 24/7 sales opportunities.

The unit features easy-to-use vending technology and eye-catching illumination. As with all Leer ice vending products, the VM40 has a self-locking door which is released when the user swipes their credit card. Transaction frequency, temperature and real-time inventory can all be monitored remotely to ensure optimum sales and profitability.

"As the market for ice vending machines continues to grow, the VM40 complements our growing line of vending products, providing the customer with a compact single door alternative to our larger Ice Breaker machine," said Ben Albregts, Leer's director of sales.

Requiring only standard 115v power supply and a cell phone signal, the VM40 offers a superior buying experience for the packaged ice consumer and retailer.
