Preparing for the Future Workforce
Preparing for the future workforce is paramount to continued success for state procurement offices nationwide. Based on information gathered through focus group discussions, one-on-one interviews, and other research, this new publication outlines the Millennial generation as the emerging workforce of the future, and provides recommendations from Millennials already working in state procurement for addressing recruitment and retention challenges that continue to burden state government.

Cyber Liability Insurance 101
The Emerging Issues Committee and the Cyber Liability Insurance Work Group present a primer on cyber liability insurance that includes an introduction to the topic, important statistics, and an overview of the types of coverage available. Another Successful State Procurement Law Institute

NASPO wrapped up the 2016 programming year with the State Procurement Law Institute, held December 4-6. 
Participan ts from 46 states and Washington, D.C. gathered in Charleston, South Carolina, to further their knowledge of legal issues involved in procurement. 

The conference kicked off with an opening session highlighting the Federal Office of Procurement Policy's "Acquisition 360" program and continued with two exciting days of i
nteractive sessions and discussion panels. 
Roundtable topics including IT Procurement, T & C Negotiations,  Cooperativ e Contracts and Managing Protests gave attendees the opportunity to share experiences and network with their peers.

Coming to You in 2017: Disbursement Management System
In early 2017, NASPO will roll out an online disbursement system (DMS) to allow members to request expenses and payments electronically through the NASPO Network. This new system will eliminate the need to submit expense reports via email and allow you to scan or take pictures of receipts for submissions, allowing you to submit expenses from anywhere! Watch for announcements in the coming months about how and when to start using this new feature to submit reimbursements.
 NASPO Members Present at NCMA Conference
Larry Maxwell, New Mexico Director of State Purchasing and President of the National Association of State Procurement Officials, presented last week at NCMA's Government Contract Symposium. He walked through NASPO's 2016 priorities in state procurement, and also discussed what states are anticipating as priority issues in 2017.  In addition, incoming NASPO Board Member and Virginia Chief Procurement Official Bob Gleason and Washington, D.C. Chief Procurement Official George Schutter also served on a panel to share their experiences in leading procurement offices.

The purpose of this course is to define and explore the use of negotiations within state procurement. The negotiations course will explain the purpose and importance of negotiations within state procurement, describe the goals of negotiation, discuss who, when, where and how of negotiation, outline the process from start to finish and explain what happens in each step of the negotiation process.

UPPCC CPPO & CPPB Exam Prep Course Registration Now Open
 
These prep courses are for public procurement professionals that have met the eligibility requirements set forth by the UPPCC and are planning to take either the CPPB or CPPO exams. Course participants are expected to have acquired prior knowledge in each of the domain areas through training, education and professional experience. While learning elements within the course cover the domain topic areas, this course is not designed to be instructional in nature. Rather the courses are designed as a self-study, along with some facilitated review by a CPPB and/or CPPO certified instructor, of the UPPCC Body of knowledge. Both courses provide resources, live facilitated discussions, exam practice questions and learning assessment exercises which allow individuals to gauge individual exam readiness.
