KCCD would like to congratulate and recognize Kimberly Moon, a Cal State Los Angeles graduate and KCCD Intern for her dedication in identifying and compiling research on AAPI seniors during her time at KCCD.
Hyepin Im, KCCD President, stated, "We enjoyed and appreciated Kimberly's presence and contribution during her internship. She was never short of positive attitude, initiative to contribute and learn, and flexibility to be helpful at all times. Her valuable help on identifying Korean Senior resources in Koreatown and Los Angeles area as well as report on Korean/Senior data will be a great resource for the community and our work to advocate for Korean and Asian seniors who are often overlooked."
See her testimony below.
"The past 16 weeks at Korean Churches for Community Development (KCCD) as an intern with a focus in senior services and programs has been a valuable, rewarding, and stimulating learning experience. I've gained so much learning more about not only the Korean American community in Los Angeles, but the greater community around us. It was very inspiring and refreshing to witness faith and community leaders collaborate and mobilize at the local, national, and international level for a healthier, safer, and happier community.
I thoroughly enjoyed working with such hard working and talented staff and meeting the kindest, most welcoming board members. KCCD Board Member Sandra Ko and her team at Harbage Consulting have provided me with real hands-on outreach experience that has been so rewarding and fun! Volunteering and attending various KCCD events (15th Annual Homeownership Fair, Luncheon with Consul General of Azerbaijan, 15th Anniversary Gala Dinner & LA Riots 25th Anniversary Kick-Off), were wonderful experiences and opportunities only available through being part of the team.
As an university student working for a government organization, I'm so thankful to have gotten my first exposure to a non-profit organization through KCCD. The outreach, field work, and relationships I have been able to build with and through KCCD has been significantly beneficial for my internship experience and future career. As KCCD’s first intern focusing on senior services and programs, I hope to provide a foundation for future interns to grow and build this segment of KCCD’s community engagement and outreach efforts. Thank you Ms. Im for the times you spent with me discussing my professional development, and thank you KCCD for such a substantive internship experience!"
