Water Line Replacement Project on Greenback Lane
Work will begin Friday, August 18 on a water line replacement project, requiring a nighttime closure of one westbound lane on Greenback Lane between Folsom-Auburn Road and American River Canyon Drive. The closure will allow crews to replace an existing water line that is beyond its serviceable life and install approximately 1,000 linear feet of 12-inch water main. The work will take place from 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. on weekdays to minimize traffic impacts; the project will continue through early October.  The work may result in some noise disturbances. Message signs will be installed to alert motorists about the closures. Motorists should allow for extra time when traveling through the work zone. For more information about the project, contact City of Folsom Senior Civil Engineer Jason Marks at 916-351-3455 or [email protected] .

Bring Your Ideas to Life with 3D Printing
3D printing - the process of making three-dimensional solid objects from digital designs - is an emerging technology that will be central to advances in fields such as manufacturing, medicine, and space colonization. The Folsom Public Library is home to a 3D printing lab, and the Lab's six 3D printers are available every Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. The Lab was made possible by grant funding from the Intel Foundation. Thanks to many public donations of the plastic filament needed to print 3D objects, printing remains free to the public. Plastic filament donations are always welcome.

Community Service Day Neighborhood Projects
Folsom's largest day of community service has many projects in parks, schools, trails and at non-profit facilities, but not all of Folsom's community's needs are in these public spaces. This year, a new initiative focuses on neighbors helping neighbors.  Maybe an elderly neighbor needs a fence repaired or some weeding done?  Maybe a neighbor is going through a tough time medically and could use some repairs? We all need help at some time in our lives and supporting neighbors is part of what makes the Folsom community special. Sidewalk Repairs at Folsom City Lions Park
Sidewalk repairs and upgrades at Folsom City Lions Park will require the closure of the large playground from August 14 to 25. The work area will be enclosed with temporary fencing, and signs have been posted to notify the public about the upcoming closure.  The picnic pavilion, lawn area picnic tables and Play For All playground will remain open during construction.

Donors Needed for Upcoming Blood Drive
BloodSource must collect about 700 units of blood per day to meet local demands. However, only 38 percent of people in the U.S. are eligible to donate, and less than 10 percent actually do. Consequently, the lives of many depend on the generosity of a few. One donation has the potential to save as many as three lives. Consider donating blood on Tuesday, August 22 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. or 12:15 to 2:30 p.m. at the Folsom Public Library. To make an appointment to donate visit   www.bloodsource.org/drives and enter blood drive code D327. Call BloodSource at 1-800-995-4420 for questions about donation eligibility and more information.
