Changes are coming to some Capital Metro services beginning Sunday, Aug. 20. These service changes are designed to implement recommendations made by the Connections 2025 Transit Plan, provide more mobility options to the Central Texas region, improve the overall customer experience and adjust for a return to in-school session schedules.

Increased frequency for MetroRapid

As the next phase of Connections 2025 implementation, frequency on MetroRapid will be increased and late-night service will be provided on weekends. Both Routes 801 and 803 will offer shorter wait times and increased convenience as frequency levels are improved to every 10 minutes between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. on weekdays. Weekend service levels will also improve, with both routes operating every 15 minutes from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Late-night service will operate at 20-minute frequencies and run until 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, both routes will operate at 20-minute frequencies until midnight. MetroRapid currently operates at 30-minute frequencies on weekend mornings and evenings.

Fixed-route bus service begins in Round Rock

Capital Metro will begin operating the city of Round Rock's fixed-route bus service under a pay-for-service agreement, beginning Monday, Aug. 21. The new service was approved by both the Capital Metro board of directors and the Round Rock City Council in the spring.

New Routes 50 and 51 will operate weekdays between 6:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Route 52 will travel weekdays from the Tech Ridge Park & Ride to the Round Rock Transit Center at 300 W. Bagdad Ave. This service will connect to MetroRapid and other Capital Metro routes and operate two morning trips and two afternoon trips, with limited stops along the route to reduce travel times. Service on MetroExpress Route 980 will begin once the MoPac managed lanes are fully opened. It will run from the Round Rock Transit Center to a new Park & Ride at New Life Austin Church (located southeast of Wells Branch Parkway and MoPac) and then continue service into downtown Austin.

Capital Metro will not provide paratransit service as part of our agreement with Round Rock. Visit the Round Rock Transit website for more information on ADA service in that city. We will facilitate transfer of ADA paratransit riders at Howard Station, though separate fares must be paid for each leg of the trip. School-Related Adjustments

Each fall, Capital Metro transitions UT Shuttle, E-Bus service and select trips on Local routes from summer schedules to in-school session service levels to accommodate the increased demand.

All UT Shuttles will transition from summer schedules to full service based on university calendars. E-Bus service will be reinstated for the fall semester.

Select school-related weekday trips on the following Local routes will return to regular schedules:
* 4 Montopolis
* 5 Woodrow/South 5th
* 7 Duval/Dove Springs
* 20 Manor/Riverside
* 300 Govalle
* 331 Oltorf
* 333 William Cannon
