Upper Delaware River and Local Economies get a Boost from Washington, DC

After many years of hard work on the part of Delaware River advocates, the Delaware River Basin Conservation Act (DRBCA) has been passed by the U.S.Congress and is on its way to the Presidents desk to be signed into law. For the first time ever, the Delaware River has a formalized national program that will help to both protect the river and invigorate local economies.

The Upper Delaware River cold water ecosystem is recognized in the language of the bill citing the local economic benefits the river generates from world class recreational opportunities. This is a tremendous shot in the arm for our efforts to build a river-based economy in the UDR region.

There is still a lot of hard work ahead. Upper Delaware River advocates will need a strong, unified voice to ensure that Congress funds the program and that the Upper Delaware River region receives its fair share of that investment.

We will continue to let you know when and how you can help make a difference as we work to ensure our region benefits from this monumental new law.

Thanks to everybody in the UDR region who took action in support of the DRBCA!
