Honoring Dena and Baruch Brody
March 12, 2017
Dena and Baruch Brody, who were instrumental in the growth and development of The Hebrew Academy, now known as Robert M. Beren Academy (RMBA), are making aliyah in 2017. In recognition of their significance to the Houston Jewish community, both RMBA and United Orthodox Synagogues (UOS) are honoring them
on Sunday, Purim,
March 12, 2017, with a special seudah (supper) at UOS. More details to follow in January 2017.

PUZZLED
Daniel Sharur and Liel Karo are enjoying their turn working on alphabet puzzles in both Hebrew and English in Morah Helee's EC 3 class.
WE ARE FAMILY
Gabi Gelman is discussing the Parsha with her Kindergarten students as they learn and discuss Sara and Abraham's family tree.
UN PARTITION VOTE
To mark the anniversary of the Nov 29, 1947 UN Partition Vote which created Israel, our Shlichim had the students reenact the vote by being different countries and voting. The discussed why Jews supported it and Arabs opposed, and what happened in the aftermath of the vote.
NUMBERS
Batyah Footnik, 1st grade (l) is being assisted by Sarah Nevah, 3rd grade (r) in Mrs. Fowler's class to solve math detailed problems using counting beads.
COINING IT
First graders Lenoy Jarufi (l) and Elisheva Koual (r) are practicing their addition and subtraction skills using various US coins to comprise their results in Mrs. Schneider's class.
THE ART OF THE DEAL
Mrs. Bigham's class enjoyed an afternoon of bartering. While learning about the themes of thanksgiving, students were encouraged to bring items to class to then barter with their peers. Needless to say a creative assortment of items changed hands! 5th graders Yisrael Carmel (l) and Ezra Miller (r) are in the deep negotiations.
INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL IS COMING
Hailey Morgan and Daniel BarYadin are preparing decorations for the upcoming annual 5th Grade International Festival.

Middle School Varsity Boys
The MS Varsity boys won an impressive road game at Logos Prep this week. They travel to Holy Spirit Episcopal on
December 1st at 6:30 PM.
HS Girls
The HS Girls are now 4-2 on the year after a close 28-27 victory against CHSA. Next up for the Lady Stars is a road game at St. Thomas Episcopal.
HS Boys
The HS Boys won their first game of the season behind a great team performance. Next up is Salt and Light Home School on
December 1st at 7:30. The JV boys have also been playing really well and will take on Salt and Light Home School on
December 1st at 6:00.
