Teachers,

As you prepare for students to return to your classroom, please know that Shelby County Schools values your dedication and has been making changes to further invest in you.

Our new compensation system is designed to ensure every teacher is fairly and appropriately compensated and given opportunities for additional pay. This includes an updated base salary structure that aligns with years of experience for current and new teachers. That means if your current salary is lower than the base salary of an incoming teacher with the same years of service, your salary will be leveled up to the appropriate pay. If you are currently receiving the correct pay, your base salary will not change.

Please review the base salary structure for current and incoming teachers below:

Leveled salaries will be reflected on your second paycheck to be issued on August 25, retroactive to the first day of work on July 31.

Also note that performance does not impact leveling of salaries. Performance based raises will be determined when TEM scores are available in late Fall.

In addition, we will send you a letter in the coming weeks to verify your leveled salary amount. If you would like more information about how SCS is investing in you, visit www.investinginteachers.com or call 901-416- 5304. Thanks for all you do! We look forward to a successful 2017-18 school year.

Sincerely,

Trinette Small
Chief of HR
