Happy Birthday
Happy Birthday to Naava R., and Shneur S!
Thank You!
Thank you to Morah Miller and Grade 1 for the delicious red lentil soup served at lunch on Friday. We learned how yummy and nutritous lentil soup is and why Esav wanted it so badly!

Chanukah Play
Dear Parents,

Thank you for returning your ticket order requests for the Chanukah Play.

At this point we are giving out tickets for the evening show to all parents, grandparents and siblings living at home. All other evening show requests have been put on a wait list.

All afternoon ticket requests have been accepted and there are still seats available for the afternoon show. If you would like to switch any of your evening show tickets to the afternoon, please let the office know.

If you have received tickets for the evening show and do not end up needing them, please let the office know as soon as possible so we can give them to someone on the waiting list.

Children 3 years of age and older must have a seat.  Please reserve a seat for your child if they are performing with the Nursery and Pre-K classes.  They will come and join you after their performance.

Reminder: We are restricted in the amount of people that can be in the theatre so it is very important to know that only people with tickets will be allowed in the theatre.

Thank you
Inclusion Program
This past Sunday, the grade 6-9 girls volunteered at the JCC for the Inclusion Program with the Kesher Klub members. They had a great time making their own Glass Fusion Latke Plate.

Morah Orly
Red Umbrella
We are looking to borrow a plain red umbrella for the Chanukah Concert. Please speak to Morah Traci.

Toy Drive
Thank you to our events committee for organizing a toy drive for Chanukah.

Menorah Making Contest
We received our first entry to the Menorah contest by Rabbi Goldenberg's Grade 4 class and it was immediately disqualified. Please stop by to see the many reasons why this Menorah is not allowed to be used. Please remember to bring in your entries!

Miriam's Well
Thank you to our Pre-School Teachers for organizing a kosher food bank drive for Miriam's well . Thank you to Mr. Marty Hornstein, executive director of Jewish Family Services for coming to speak at our Rosh Chodesh assembly about this very important Mitzvah. We will have a donation bin set up outside the office until December 12.

Challah Program
Thanks to the generous sponsorship of the Shapiro and Cheuk families, we are pleased to let you know that we are now offering Challahs to Akiva families to purchase at the discounted rate of $2.50 per Challah. By prepaying for 1 or 2 Challahs a week, your Challah will be sent home with your child every week baked fresh from the Carriage House Bakery.

If you are interested you can prepay through the office to receive challah starting January 6 until Pesach break. Please note there will not be Challah on days where there is no school. Orders and payment must be received by Wednesday, December 14 for the next 12 weeks. The cost is $30 for one challah or $60 for two challahs.
We apologize but no orders can be accepted after Wednesday, December 14.

Dovi's Chessed Corner
The grade 2 class is doing a kindness project in memory of Dovi Sass. They are holding a warm coat drive and collecting clean, gently worn coats of all types and sizes. They will also be collecting winter accessories such as scarves, gloves, mittens and toques. Please drop off any gently used winter clothing to Morah Traci's grade two class and help someone in need stay warm this winter.
Donating used books for the Book Fair
If you or your children decide that you want to donate your gently used books and magazines, please drop them off at the School office. Mr. Hadden will store the books and magazines until the big event. Please keep this in mind as you are fall cleaning. The grade three students will help sort the materials along with some parent volunteers. Used Book Fair volunteers are needed to help sort, price, and sell books. If you are interested, please contact the Mr. Hadden.
Science Fair
Grade 5-9 students will be preparing for the school science fair in February and are eligible to enter the City Science Fair in April if they follow the proper procedures. The City Youth Science Fair will take place this year April 19-21 during Pesach Break.

In order to enter the City Science fair, students need to follow the requirements which include using a large trifold.

Mr. Virine who is our Parent Volunteer Coordinator has graciously donated the majority of the cost of the large size trifolds.

Students are required to pay $5 each for the trifolds which can now be purchased in the school office. Please send in $5 to purchase a large size trifold.
Sponsorship Opportunities at Akiva
We are looking for plant donations to place above the lockers to make our space more appealing. Please speak to Morah Orly and Mrs. Mashiah about the type and size of plant you would like to donate.
