MAYOR'S MESSAGE

National Night Out festivities took place on Tuesday evening at Excursion Park, where hundreds of children and their families enjoyed free entertainment, food, games and other fun.  My thanks go to Captain Tom McQuillen for organizing this year's National Night Out activities - and all of our police officers and community volunteers who made the night possible, including Casino Pizza / LaCosta Bar, Cammo Dog Hot Dogs, the Cape May County Prosecutors Office and Sheriff's Department, C ASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children), the Chamber of Commerce & Revitalization, Glancey Enterprises, The Ocean Drive Bar & Grill, The Springfield Inn, The Sea Isle Inn, Town Watch / Town Pride, as well as Sea Isle City's Ambulance Corps, Beach Patrol, Fire Department, Municipal Alliance Committee, Public Works Department and Tourism Office.  I would also like to thank the ladies from City Hall who manned our National Night Out Dunk Tank, which raised over $700 for my 2017 Holiday Toy and Food Drive. <<READ MORE>>  

CITY COUNCIL'S MESSAGE

During the July 25 City Council meeting, two ordinances had second reading and public hearing - and both were adopted...
  • Ordinance 1610 was written to adopt the Sea Isle City Flood Plain Management Plan, which was developed in 2017. Because of this plan, we anticipate that qualifying property owners will be able to enjoy a 30% reduction in flood insurance premiums beginning next year.
  • Ordinance 1611 is a bond ordinance for $1,125,000, which will fund water/sewer utility improvements along numerous streets in Sea Isle City. This bond ordinance also funds design work for other projects that will be described in future Project Updates.  <<READ MORE>>

SURF FLAGS

Look for Colored Flags on Each
Lifeguard Stand


In an effort to keep beach-goers well-informed of surf conditions, the Sea Isle City Beach Patrol has instituted a new system using colored flags mounted at each Lifeguard Stand. The color of the flag will indicate current surf conditions...
 
Green :  Low Hazard - Calm Conditions, Exercise Caution.
 
Yellow : Medium Hazard - Moderate Surf and/or Currents.
 
Red : High Hazard - High Surf and/or Strong Currents.

FULL MOON BEACH YOGA

Free Yoga Class August 7

Yoga Instructor Teri O'Connor will offer a free Full Moon Yoga Class on Monday, August 7, at 7:30 p.m. on the JFK Boulevard Beach. Participants will enjoy Moon Salutations as the moon rises over the ocean - and a Full Moon Meditation at the end of class. This event is open to all ages and skill levels. TEN-MILE ISLAND RUN
 
Race Day is August 12

The Sea Isle City Beach Patrol will host their 47th Annual Captain Bill Gallagher 10-Mile Island Run at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 12, at 44th Street and the Beach. Individual runners, members of organizations and running clubs are invited to participate in this popular competition, which takes place on a traffic-free, flat course. Approximately 2.5-miles of the race course is on Sea Isle's Promenade and the remaining distance is on the beach (low tide occurs at 5:58 p.m. on August 12, which means participants will be running on hard packed sand similar to a dirt trail). FLYERS EVENT AT DEALY FIELD

Fan Engagement Event August 14

The Philadelphia Flyers Community Caravan will be at Dealy Field on Monday, August 14, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Hosted by the Sea Isle City Division of Recreation, this free, "fan-engagement" event will feature inflatable activities, interactive life-sized gaming, training clinics and competitions. Flyers Alumni Bob "The Hound" Kelly and Brad Marsh will also be there to greet fans and pose for photos. Flyers fans of all ages are welcome to attend. BLOOD DRIVE AUGUST 16

Blood Donors Needed 

The Knights of Columbus of Saint Joseph Catholic Church will host a Summer Blood Drive on Wednesday, August 16, from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the Parish Auditorium, located 44th Street and Central Avenue. All presenting donors will receive a coupon for a free Dunkin' Donuts medium Iced Coffee and donut.

SEA ISLE LIGHTHOUSE EVENT

Did You Know That Sea Isle Once Had a Lighthouse?


The public is invited to a special presentation titled "The History of the Sea Isle City Lighthouse" on Monday, August 14, at 6:00 p.m. inside the Sea Isle City Library, located at 4800 Central Avenue. During this one-hour "walk through days of yore," Lighthouse Historian Phil Bur will display artifacts and share many interesting details related to the Sea Isle City Lighthouse (also known as Ludlam's Beach Lighthouse), built in 1885. Admission is free for this informative event, which is hosted by the Sea Isle City Historical Society in cooperation with the Cape May County Library System.

Did you know that regional Lifeguard Races can be tremendously exciting? Don't Get Caught In The Rain

Anyone can register for event cancellation text messages by texting "sicalert" to "84483" on your smart phone. You can also sign-up for event cancellation text messages and email alerts by going to the City's Visitors Website,
www.VISITSICNJ.com , and clicking the "Rained Out" link on the home page. Once signed-up, you will receive alerts whenever a local concert, festival or other outdoor City event has been cancelled, postponed or re-scheduled.
 
FLOOD MITIGATION PLAN

Citywide Flooding Study

A major priority of the Sea Isle City government is addressing the flooding which impacts our City and is most prevalent in low lying areas. Over the past several years, the City has implemented several drainage improvement projects to replace deteriorated storm drainage systems and tidal check valves; and we're coordinating with the county engineer's office on several projects, as much of our drainage system falls under county jurisdiction. <<READ MORE>>
