Call Rauner Today

Health insurance coverage will not be maintained if some of the proposals being discussed on the national scene are adopted.  We do not want to see this loss.

What you can say

Call Governor Rauner at 312-814-2121 (Chicago) or 217-782-0244 (Springfield) TODAY and let him know what health care means to you and your community! When you call, you can use the following script:

"Hello, my name is _____ and I'm a resident of Illinois. Gov. Rauner should tell Congress that Illinois benefits from the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid and refuses to move backward. I urge Gov. Rauner to stand strong to protect health care access provided by the ACA and Medicaid."
Additional talking points

Protect our care
It would be a moral outrage to strip people of the lifesaving coverage they have under the ACA.  Here's more information about what's at stake in Illinois.

Say no to Medicaid block grants or caps
Medicaid is vital for Illinois. It helps seniors and people with disabilities stay in their homes instead of institutional care. In addition, Medicaid expansion under the ACA has been critical to providing coverage to low-income people with disabilities who are ineligible for SSI or SSDI, and who would have otherwise been ineligible for coverage under Medicaid. Block grants and caps will halt progress by forcing multibillion dollar cuts in federal support, which is both their purpose and effect.

We will not go back to the pre-ACA days
The ACA protects us from discrimination against pre-existing conditions and financial ruin; it provides insurance coverage to those who cannot afford it; it helps us work; it allows us to contribute to our communities and our state; it is critical for our families.
The ACA provides for better economic security for Medicare beneficiaries. According to a Commonwealth Fund report "The ACA has saved Medicare beneficiaries $11.5 billion since 2010 from discounts and the gradual elimination of the 'doughnut hole' in Part D drug coverage."

Has Medicaid or other health coverage helped you and your family?
Have you been able to afford needed treatment? Gotten back to work? What would happen if you lost your health care coverage? Share your story.
