President's Message

Sharon Mitchell

One of the greatest pleasures of Impact 100 membership is seeing our grant money in action.  We're at a stage where the two projects funded last year are "on a roll" - and they're getting WHEELS!!!!!!!

Easter Seals/Building Value leaders have purchased their first equipment - - a new John Deere track hoe and Bobcat.  They've already used the Impact 100 equipment to deconstruct and reclaim several abandoned lots, and a full schedule is planned for this spring.  Additional equipment (dump truck and trailer) will be added to the fleet when good deals are identified.  This equipment enables Building Value to provide job training and transitional employment, salvage building materials for purchase and improve neighborhoods.

Crayons to Computers leaders have purchased the new van needed for their Mobile Service Delivery Program, and it is being retrofitted for service.  This van will enable them to expand the number of teachers and students served by traveling to remote school districts.  The van is expected to be on the road delivering supplies in late spring.

In summary, Impact 100's 2013 project "wheels are in motion", and the projects should be in "full gear" in the near future.

As we celebrate major milestones with last year's grant recipients, we continue the cycle of grant reviews to identify the 2014 Grant Award recipients.  The Grant Review Committees are now hard at work reviewing grant applications from the 37 agencies invited to submit grants.  There are many amazing, strong grant proposals that have the potential to make a lasting impact on the community.  This year promises to be another year of strong candidates, stimulating site visits, and difficult choices as we work to identify the agencies that will be Finalists - and then select THREE Grant Recipients.

Finally, I hope that many of you are interested in actively spreading the word about Impact 100, and willing to help us recruit more members for next year.  We all would love to be able to give four grants in 2015 - but that will only happen in we all pitch in.  Here's how you can help.

  • Impact 100 is increasing its presence on social media - including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest and Instagram - - so please join the conversation.  Please comment on Impact 100 regularly in your social media forum of choice.
  • Most importantly, please introduce your friends, colleagues, and relatives to Impact 100 ... and bring a friend to an Impact 100 event. There's nothing more powerful than a personal invitation from a trusted friend!

I hope you all enjoy the start of spring, the exciting Final Four Basketball games and the start of the Cincinnati Red's Baseball Season!  And I look forward to seeing you at an Impact 100 event.

Warm Regards,

Sharon Mitchell

President, Impact 100

THANK YOU!

THANK YOU to our Impact 100 members and their guests for volunteering and making a difference on Saturday March 29th, at Mercy Neighborhood Ministries, one of our Impact 100 Grant Award Recipients, for 2012.

Our grant of $107,500 allowed Mercy Neighborhood Ministries to expand the Health Care Aide Training program in 2013.

With everyone's hard work, we were able to help clean, refresh, decorate and dress up classrooms, offices and lab spaces. The training program has been a huge success over the years, and now that their environment is looking better, it will be more conducive to learning.

Birthday Party
We recently heard a great party idea... Rich Constand, husband of Impact 100 member, Linda Constand, was throwing her a birthday party. Knowing her passion for Impact 100, he asked to have some Impact materials at the party, and requested that gifts be in the form of donations to Impact! Her generous friends gave $400...to Impact 100!

Are you looking for a way to honor your loved one? Consider a donation to Impact 100! Please contact us at [email protected] if you'd like details.
