Women's Resource Center 2015-2016 Annual Report
Empowering Women...Enriching Lives

Message from the Executive Director

2015-2016 passed in the blink of an eye and as we pause on the threshold of 2017 we give thanks.

I answered a phone call this week and spoke with a young mom who called WRC because she said, "I'm ready to get my life back on track, someone gave me your # and your website.  I want to meet with someone who can help me."  Through her tears, she shared just a little bit of her story and her need to move forward.  Being a young mom is scary enough without being alone and feeling you have no where to turn.  I'm thankful that this community sees the need for a place where women can take their next step forward.

We are grateful for the passion and vision of our Board of Directors who continue to work on our Strategic Plan furthering our mission in the community.

Leading the Way has become a successful annual event where we celebrate women's leadership. In the 2nd annual Leading the Way event, we honored Susan Osborne with our Founders Award and April Durr as our Rising Start in November 2015.

Our Herb Festival which raised over $30,000 in net proceeds and continues to be a much loved community event.

We are so appreciative of our Alamance community support through United Way, Impact Alamance, many sponsors, corporate and individual donors.  Our membership is growing as well as our strong group of volunteers.

Our office staff, Kathryn Porter, Client Resource Counselor, Susan Barber, Membership & Marketing Coordinator, Melody Platt MSW Intern and Victoria Rende, voluneer who each brightens the days at WRC by daily serving women in transition. Their passion and dedication is unmatched.

WRC provides programs and services to meet many diverse needs of women from professional networking and business development opportunities to supporting, coaching and mentoring those facing challenging life transitions so that all can reach their potential.

A community is strengthened by women leading self-sufficient and productive lives.  That is WRC's vision that drives the work we do. And that is why our work matters.

Warm wishes to you for a wonderful Holiday Season.

Susan Watson

Melody Beattie once said, " Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. "
