ANOTHER YEAR OVER AND
WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?
I was listening to the radio a few days ago and I heard the song by John Lennon, "Happy Christmas". The first verse goes like this: "So this is Christmas and what have you done, another year over and new one just begun". I thought it was good timing as every year at this time I take time to reflect on the things I have done the past year. So my question to you is, have you taken the time to reflect on the past year?
I think it is important to reflect on the things you are proudest of and to reward yourself for accomplishments. It is also important to do something new each year that is out of your comfort zone. For me, it was the four live performances in our Improv group in front of large crowds. It is a combination of adrenaline, excitement, and some level of fear but it helps me in so many ways.
Someone recently asked me how I defined success. That is an interesting question since you can answer it in so many ways. Some may answer it in monetary terms but I choose to answer it a different way. I answered the question by saying that success to me is measured by the positive impact I make on the things that are most important to me. That is, my family, my friends, my clients, and my causes. I am so grateful to be a financial advisor because it gives me the opportunity and freedom to accomplish this. I then reflected on the impact I had made this past year and how dedicated I am to continue to make a big impact on what is important to me.
"A very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year, let's hope it's a good one, without any fear"- John Lennon
Happy Hanukah and Merry Christmas!
