18th Annual Differences Day Teaches Children Empathy

What is it like to read Harry Potter in Braille? What does the teacher sound like if you have a hearing impairment? Why is it so hard for some children to tie their shoes?

These are some of the topics touched on during Differences Day, a parent-led workshop sponsored by the Katonah-Lewisboro Special Education PTO for students in second and fifth grades. 
 

Assembly Highlights Careers in Math, Science, & Tech

J ohn Jay Middle School math and science teachers Zachary Miller and Christine Watroba hosted a STEM Assembly on October 26. Fifteen district parents with careers in science, technology, engineering, and math--fields known as STEM--spoke to middle school students about their work. 

Students met by grade, and the parent panelists were roughly matched to the scope of study in each grade.
 
November is a "Month of Giving" throughout KLSD

John Jay High School American Red Cross Club has organized a district-wide hurricane relief collection.
 
Community members are invited to drop off diapers, non-perishable food, bottled water, and batteries at any of Katonah-Lewisboro's five schools' main offices through November 30.

Girls' Swim and Dive: Undefeated League and Division Champs!  Nine  swimmers from the team have qualified for the State Championship
