How to Improve Laser Diode Lifetime!
Advice and Precautions on Mounting

  Laser diodes have increased in output power and the increased power means added waste heat to contend with.  The mounting or heatsinking of the laser package is of tremendous importance because operating temperature has a strong influence on laser lifetime and performance. Achieving correct mounting or heatsinking of the laser package effectively is not as simple as many would assume.  This article will discuss the various package types and the best practices for ensuring you are mounting the laser diode correctly. Making sure the laser diode is mounted correctly will ensure the best performance and longest lifetimes...MORE.

ModuleMODULES:
Module1
DX1 Module offers narrow linewidth laser diodes

The DX1 Module with integrated Current Source & Temperature Controller offers a wide range of  DFB laser diodes ranging from 760nm-2327nm for various gas sensing applications. At the heart of their gas sensing lasers is Eblana's Discreet-Mode (DM) technology which allows for excellent SMSR and narrow linewidth (<2MHz). Since laser-based gas sensing requires excellent tuning characteristics.

DX1 Module Features:
  • Incorporates a stable, low noise current source
  • Provides stable and precise Thermoelectric Control
  • Very compact format
  • Eliminates need for separate mount & driver units
  • Cost-effective

Laser LASERS:
Areté has developed the next generation of a-thermal lasers,   AIRTRAC Lasers, providing low divergence and > 70mJ per pulse. Full NATO STANAG 3733 capability in a very compact, lightweight and low power configuration. The a-thermal design provides high pulse energy and low beam divergence in a full system weighing less than 1.5 lbs.

AIRTRAC has established a new standard in size for lasers of this class. The AIRTRAC is available in IR and Green.

KEY FEATURES
* Compact a-thermal laser resonator
* Solid state technology for increased efficiency and long life performance
* High energy with low beam divergence
* No significant warmup time
* Reduced heat-load: conduction or air cooled
* Continuous operation
* Shock & vibration hardened

Y-Fi Laser Series - Ultrafast Fiber Lasers Laser2

 The unique Y-Fi laser series is a family of high average power, high repetition rate near-IR ultrafast fiber lasers. Y-Fi products are based on a single rugged opto-mechanical platform engineered for hands-free operation.

The Y-Fi system employs a patented all normal dispersion (ANDi) mode-locked fiber laser coupled with a fiber amplifier. This configuration offers numerous unique advantages, including:
* Bandwidth supporting sub-100 fs pulses
* High output energy from oscillator requires less amplification for shorter, low temporal pedestal pulses
* Robust long-term operation

Application Notes:
UV Laser for Micromachining - Excellent Beam Quality and High Peak Power
Application

Based on a proprietary Fast Q-switching Design. The UV versions of Wedge and Onda are having an increasing success in several high - tech application fields, including special marking processes.

UV versions of the Wedge HF and Onda feature excellent beam quality (M2 <1.3and beam roundness >90%) and high peak power (up to 40kW) and can perform high-resolution microprocessing tasks in electronic applications, such as OLED manufacturing, trimming, and corrections, marking and patterning on special materials (delicate plastics, CR39 lenses, glass).

Thanks to our proprietary active q-switch technology, the delicate UV optics are not affected by degradation when the laser is in pause or standby mode, but only during UV lasing action, which is triggered  by the user. This feature allows us to increase the lifetime of our UV laser sources... MORE.
