CARDIAC ARREST AT THE WORKPLACE.....COULD YOU SAVE A LIFE?

If someone suffers a heart attack at work they have only a
5 to 7% chance of surviving while waiting for emergency medical services to arrive. Workers who receive immediate defibrillation, however, have up to 60% survival rate one year after cardiac arrest.

Most U.S. employees are not prepared to handle cardiac emergencies in the workplace because they lack training in CPR, first aid and the use of AEDs (automated external defibrillators). Chances of survival from sudden cardiac death diminish by 7-10% for each minute without immediate CPR or defibrillation. After 10 minutes, resuscitation rarely succeeds.

The links below contain information on how to help your workplace be prepared to handle a medical emergency.

Starting A New Thanksgiving Tradition Can Make Thanksgiving More Meaningful

While watching the parade, and endless football games, all day cooking, and eating until your buttons pop are all part of the perfect Thanksgiving, having a cool tradition can add a special touch and bring a reminder to what the holiday is really about.

Some Possibilities
Have the kids make an easy breakfast like cinnamon rolls
Have a turkey bowl football
Have a turkey hunt for the kids using stickers or candy
Start a family cookbook
End the night with a family movie
