NEW FOUNDATION TO AID TIFTON YOUTH
McALPIN ENTERTAINMENT'S TIFTON CONCERTS
TO HELP FUND NON-PROFIT
Austin and Kirsten Underwood McAlpin have announced they are creating the McAlpin Foundation, a nonprofit organization to help disadvantaged youth in Tifton.
Austin is a local concert promoter with McAlpin Entertainment that has brought several high-profile concerts to Tifton in recent years such as Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard. McAlpin brought country-gospel singer John Berry back to Tifton last week

for Berry's annual Christmas concert.
"I've truly been blessed t
o grow my concerts since I started doing this a little over five years ago, and I've literally been blessed with a stage or platform in our community," McAlpin said.
"Over the last several months, Kirsten and I have been praying to find a way to use this platform for the greater good of our community. We have decided to start the McAlpin Foundation, a non-profit organization which will focus on helping and serving disadvantaged youth in our community.
"Moving forward, we will be using every single concert McAlpin Entertainment does in Tifton as a platform to raise funds for this cause. These funds will go directly towards helping our youth in ways such as buying them Christmas gifts, back-to-school clothes, setting up a 'scholarship fund' to pay for children to participate in organized youth athletics, and many, many more things."
Kirsten, a local radio personality and singer, added, "
This is something that has been on our hearts for a while now, and we are so excited about this journey."
The
McAlpins say they are in the "beginning process" of getting the foundation started.
"We thank you for your continued support, and we hope that you'll take this walk with us to help make a difference in the lives of disadvantaged youth in our community," Austin said.
He also announced that his next concert at the Tift Theatre will be country music star and Cairo native Daryle Singletary on Jan. 13.

New Year Brings Expanded Fishing Opportunity at Paradise PFA
In addition to the
508 acres of water currently open to fishing at
Paradise Public Fishing Area just outside
Tifton in
Berrien County,
Horseshoe 6 Lake (
three acres) will help anglers ring in the
New Year as it opens to the public at
sunrise on
Jan. 1, says the
Georgia Department of Natural Resources' Wildlife Resources Division (WRD).
"For the past several years,
Horseshoe 6 Lake was
open to the public
only a few days per year. So we are excited to announce that since the management plans for this lake have changed, it will now be
open to the public
year round," says
Dean Barber, WRD fisheries technician.
"The lake offers excellent bank fishing access, and is stocked with a high number of channel catfish and additionally offering anglers a chance to land some
bream, brown bullheads, crappie and largemouth bass."
Paradise PFA is located
east of Tifton on
1,250 gently rolling
acres offering
60 lakes that boast excellent boat and bank fishing for bass, sunfish, crappie and channel catfish. The area is heavily forested with pine plantations and small communities of longleaf pine/wiregrass, which enhance the beauty of the area. A variety of waterfowl and birds of prey are frequently seen, including Canada geese, mallard, wood duck, red-tailed hawk and the majestic bald eagle.
Facilities available include restrooms, a picnic area, tent camping, nature trail, fishing pier, fish cleaning station and concrete boat ramps. There also is group camping opportunity for organized groups of 20-60.
Anglers will be required to meet all license requirements and all current regulations apply.
