Last week OML Field Representative Nancee Morris took a trip to Elk City to meet with City Manager Lee Litterell and Treasurer Elesia Church.  Litterell has served on the OML Legislative Committee for over two years while Treasurer Church is a graduate of OML's Community Leadership Development program. As the discussion regarding the city's progress continued, Church told Morris about the city's participation in the local Meals on Wheels program.  As most know Meals on Wheels is a nonprofit program providing meals to seniors and the disabled for over 47 years.  Continue Reading

Dinner District Meetings Continue Around Oklahoma - Join Us in Krebs on Thursday!

Join us  THIS THURSDAY, November 9th, in Krebs at Pete's Place for some FREE Italian food and connect with the other municipalities in your district and meet your OML Field Representative. OML will cover the 2018 legislative session and share the latest League happenings. Our remaining meetings are in  Oklahoma City at Cattlemen's Steakhouse on November 28th, and Altus at Fred's Steakhouse on November 30th.  Remember: the dinners are free to you, and there will be a cash bar offered!

Not only will you get to have great food and drinks, but you will get to experience various artists, live music, and even a visit from Santa! Newly Elected Officials Institute Rapidly Approaching!
All Municipal Officials Welcome

On Thursday, November 16th, OML will host a Newly Elected Officials Institute (NOI) in McAlester at Eastern Oklahoma State College. This institute is an intensive educational program specifically geared towards newly elected and appointed officials who want to keep in the know on current municipal issues. Attendees have the opportunity to hear from municipal professionals with over 100 years of municipal knowledge and experience with topics such as Open Records and Open Meetings. An officer is defined in 11 O.S. Section 1-102. State law requires each person elected for the first time to a position of a municipality on or after January 1, 2005, OR appointed for the first time on or after July 1, 2006, to attend an institute for municipal officials. The statute is codified at Title 11 O.S., Section 8-114.
Employee Spotlight: MJ Barton
Meet Our Administrative Assistant!

MJ has been with OML since July 2017. She is originally from Nebraska and moved to be an Okie in 1996. She is a mom to 10 kids and a nana to 5 grandkids! MJ loves meeting all of the amazing people of Oklahoma and learning the history and needs of all the cities and towns. In her spare time, MJ loves interior design, woodwork, and volunteering as a mentor for drug court participants. Barton is also an avid Oklahoma Sooners fan! Thank you for everything you do in the office, MJ!

OML Had a Busy Week Last Week!

OML Welcomed new staff Member, Director of Legislative Affairs, Jodi Lewis!

Oklahoma Municipal League Executive Director, Mike Fina, Deputy Director or External Operations and Government Affairs, Missy Dean, Jodi Lewis, Conference and Programs Manager, Sarah Lingenfelter, Director of Research, Daniel McClure, Administrative Assistant, MJ Barton, and Membership Services Representative and Legislative Specialist, Jamie Smith attended the District Dinner Meeting in Collinsville.

Daniel McClure attended the Earth, Wind, and Fire Statewide Emergency Exercise with Oklahoma Emergency Management and attended the State of the City in Tulsa.

Mike Fina, Sarah Lingenfelter, Financial Services and Accounting Manager, Cathy Pulver, Exhibitor Coordinator and Administrative Support Specialist, April Bradbury, and Communications and Media Specialist, Marilyn Courtney attended a partners lunch in Shawnee.

Inquiry and Special Programs Director, Kelly Danner attended the 37th Annual Governor's Water and Environment Conference.

Kelly Danner and Legislative Specialist, Aspen Roberts attended the Municipal Clerks and Treasurers Training in Sand Springs.

Missy Dean was at the Capitol for special session.
