It's that time of the year again when the sun sets a little earlier, the school/work days feel a little longer, and the indoor tennis season starts getting busier!  We're happiest about the later.

First and foremost as Coach Pat always reminded us for many years is that when we set the clocks back, we also get our racquets strung.  It's a great time to make sure that your racquet strings are fresh and ready to help you play your best tennis!

The club has been busy even in spite of the beautiful weather throughout the last few weeks.  I hope you all had a happy and safe Halloween, and are looking forward to the Thanksgiving break on the horizon.

D.A.T. is in full swing now and it's been exciting to see the progress happening on court. We've enjoyed seeing more of our junior players take advantage of the FREE open time or Red ball activities throughout the week. The more repetitions your kids can get the more they will improve!

Our LED court lighting system was installed back in August and is already having an impact. We've already seen drops in our electrical usage and with the help of our Environmental Intern, Evan, we are making progress on becoming a Certified Green Business.  Scroll down to read about some of the Green Initiatives we've been working on.

Keep enjoying your time on court and let us know how we can help make your experience better!

Yours truly,

Tendai Kuwaza
Director of Instruction
Yonkers Tennis Center

Being Green is Important to Us!
Here's what we've been working on!
  • Posted signage to remind players to conserve water & notify employees if there is a leak
  • Switch over to 30% recycled copy paper
  • Establish no-idling policies
  • Buying cleaning supplies that are "Earth Friendly"
  • If court is not in use for 3 hours or more, lights can be shut off at the discretion of adjacent courts.
