The good weather certainly helped, but we got a very good turnout for out Fall century. We heard nothing but praise for the event which was attended by around 150 riders. Many folks visited the farm and art galleries and made purchases which Nancy Avitabile picked up and brought to the start/finish.
One of the great features of the ride was contributed by Travis Evans of   Just Riding Along Bicycle Shop . Our ride started and ended at Laytonsville Shopping Center and we had our tables set up right in front of his store. Travis and his employees went way out of their way to assist our riders before, during, and after the ride. Although his shop is usually closed on Sunday, he had one of his employees come in early to set up coffee for our riders. He was available to help any of our members with bike emergencies and even stored two bikes for our riders who had an accident and needed to leave their bikes on the road.

Just Riding Along Bicycle Shop (JRABS) has been proud to serve the Potomac Pedalers since it opened its doors in 2009. In addition to excellent bike mechanics, JRABS sells several line of bikes and even takes trade ins on your used bike. The owner, Travis Evans, has been a member of PPTC since 1985 and his father, David, was chairman in 1991 — so the Potomac Pedalers has always been his main focus. Next time you ride out of LAV please stop in and say hello.

Introducing the New Women's Ride Coordinator

I’d like to introduce the next Women’s Group Coordinator, Robin Sparer. I’m excited to pass the pedals of this group on to her. She’s smart, dedicated and enthusiastic. She has great plans for the group and should be a wonderful resource for the women of PPTC. I’ve enjoyed meeting and riding with so many different and diverse women. I will continue to work with the group and look forward to helping Robin. Without further ado, I’ll hand it over to Robin.

4 Minutes, 4 Stretches 4 U

Have you thought about including a few minutes to warm-up pre-ride? to stretch during or post-ride? You’ve been reading articles about the benefits of warm-up, stretching, and cool down. The next ride was supposed to be the one where you included warm-up/stretching in your cycling routine. Decide today what you will commit to… let’ get started!

Why I Rode the Mount Dora Bicycle Festival
by Stephen Krill
The same year I did RAGBRAI, my college roommate rode the Mount Dora Bicycle Festival (MDBF). Started in 1975, this multi-day event is Florida's oldest and largest (about 1,500 cyclists).
