U.S. Drought Monitor

By the end of the week, a large upper-level trough and its associated surface low and front were bringing cooler temperatures and much-needed precipitation to many drought areas. D1-D3 were pulled back from Arkansas and Louisiana to Indiana and Ohio. The Ohio State Climate Office has noted that low farm ponds have been reported across Adams County and the surrounding general area. Southwestern and South-Central Ohio aquifers are showing levels of nearly four feet below the seasonal average. The Great Plains area saw precipitation from a low pressure system. Precipitation amounts ranged from 0.5 to 1.5 inches. Looking ahead, temperatures are expected to be colder than normal in the West to Plains.

The top three violations found this year include Fall Protection, Hazard Communication and Scaffolding. Fall Protection is the most cited violation for the sixth straight year.
