Don't Forget to Vote ~ Your Voice Matters
Election Day is Tuesday, November 7th. Have your voice heard and vote!
This election allows registered voters to vote for the next NJ Governor, State Senate, General Assembly, Freeholders, Town Council, and Roxbury Board of Education Members.
In addition, there are two public questions on the ballot up for a vote. One on the New Jersey Library Construction Bond and the other on a Constitutional Amendment Dedicating Monies from State Environmental Contamination Cases.

RHS Fall Drama - All in the Timing - Final Show - Friday, Nov. 3rd
All in the Timing is a collection of 6 one-act plays by David Ives. Each comedic short deals with relationships and the role that timing plays in their success or demise. In its entirety, the show touches on historical figures and events, classic literature, foreign language, classical music (audible mathematics), and scientific experimentation. Basically, something for every discipline!

Franklin Student Urges Roxbury to Donate Socks for the Homeless with 'Sox in a Box' Project
 A Roxbury elementary school student with a big heart has launched a program to help the feet of the homeless.
Faith Hurtado, an 8-year-old who attends Franklin School in Succasunna, initiated the "Sox in a Box" program that is currently collecting new socks that will be given to homeless people in Morris County.
"Homeless people walk a lot because they do not have a place to stay and they often do not have a good pair of sox," says a poster promoting the effort. It notes that socks are "the most requested items in homeless shelters" but are the least likely to be donated.
Hurtado's goal is to give a new pair of socks to every homeless person in the county.
The socks are being collected in boxes at St. Therese Church in Succasunna and at the Roxbury Recreation Departmetn on Eyland Avenue. Additionally, people who want to donate new socks can write to Hurtado's mother, Damaris, and she will come to get them. The email address is srp.damaris@gmail.com. R-R-Roxbury Draws Hundreds for Safe Halloween Fun
 About 90 families got into the Halloween spirit at this year's R-R-Roxbury event sponsored by Roxbury Recreation and Roxbury Public Schools, said Sandie DiDomenico a Roxbury Recreation program director.
"We had a great turnout ... at the Roxbury High School track," DiDomenico said. "We had about 90 families register, and approximately 350 attendees."
At the annual gathering, people set up "houses" along the track that are then visited by costumed children. The houses can be elaborate or simply decorated tables with candy. The event is a way for youngsters to enjoy the holiday safely, DiDomenico said.
This year's R-R-Roxbury was supported by the Roxbury High School Interact Club and Key Club, which provided more than 25 volunteers to run the games, "which included 'Mummy Wrap' and 'Zombie Chase,'" DiDomenico said.
She especially thanked the Roxbury Rotary Club for donating candy, Ashley Farms for donating two large bins of pumpkins, Walgreens for donating mummy wrappings, the Roxbury Area Chamber of Commerce for donating cider and the Roxbury Fire & EMS Department for attending.
Cliff's Ice Cream, Joe's Pizza and Roxbury Diner supplied prizes for house contest winners, DiDomenico added. She also thanked the Roxbury Recreation Committee for volunteering. Click here to read this coverage and see more pictures from Tap Into Roxbury.

 Buy a spot or come to shop on Saturday, November 11th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Roxbury High School Parking Lot. P
articipants may buy a pair of spots (head-to-head spot; one for parking and one to set up their stuff) for $20 total. They may purchase an additional pair for $15 for more room.

RHS Indoor Percussion Open House for Students & Parents - November 14th
 Parents and students (Grs 8-12) join the Roxbury High School Indoor Percussion for their open house on November 14th. Students don't need to have any experience playing percussion, our dedicated staff will give you the support you need!
This program is intended to enhance musicianship and to introduce new students to percussion. Indoor percussion gives all students a chance to perform in an entertaining and unique way. Our program is run by certified staff members whose expertise provides a top quality percussion experience.

 The 2017/2018 PTA Reflections Program has begun with this year's theme "Within Reach". Reflections is a PTA Arts Recognition and Achievement program for students in grades K-12. This program allows students to express themselves through words, pictures, music, photography, dance, or film/video.
All children can submit one or more entries for any of the categories. These submissions then compete on the County, State, and National level. Click here to watch a video with more information on this program.
All entries must follow the guidelines and be submitted with a completed student entry form. Final Submission Deadline: November 15, 2017.

 Join the Jefferson Elementary School PTA for their first ever Thanksgiving Turkey Trot. A Thanksgiving themed 5K race and one-mile fun run/walk where you're encouraged to dress for the occasion. Roxbury Girls Volleyball
Roxbury Volleyball Moves Ahead in State Tourney Play
 The Roxbury High School volleyball team on Saturday defeated Orange High School in first-round state tournament play.
Playing at home, the Gaels beat the Tornadoes 2-0. In the first game of the match, Roxbury won 25-8. The second game saw Orange give the Gaels a bit more competition; the contest ended 25-21.
Roxbury was the 10
th
seed in the 32-team field going into the match while Orange was seeded 23
rd
.

RHS Boys and Girls Soccer Updates
Lawrence (1) at Roxbury (1) - Boys Soccer - October 25th
Anthony Rodriguez and Kieran Humphreys each scored a goal as Roxbury and Lawrence battled to a 1-1 tie, in Roxbury.
Rodriguez scored on a corner kick early in the second-half to give Roxbury a 1-0 lead. Humphreys tied the game for Lawrence with 10 minutes left on a penalty kick.

Bloomfield (3) at Roxbury (4) - Boys Soccer - October 27th
Ryan Sclar had two goals and two assists to lead Roxbury to a 4-3 victory against Bloomfield in Succasunna.
Doddi Pincay and Luke Warwin scored a goal apiece and Nick Agacinski added an assist for Roxbury. Keeper Jullian Randall finished with 11 saves. Click here to read this coverage from NJ.com.
Roxbury Girls Soccer Takes Conference Championship
 The Roxbury High School girls soccer team clinched a conference championship Friday by defeating Parsippany Hills. The win marks the first time the team won the conference title since 2008.
The 1-0 victory, in the Gaels' last regular season home game, gives the team a 7-1 record on the season.

Pascack Valley (2) at Roxbury (0) - Boys Soccer - October 31st
Andrew Tatteosian and Nick Londono scored a goal apiece to lead Pascack Valley over Roxbury, 2-0, in Succasunna.
Jahren James assisted on both goals while goalkeeper Josh Ulin made four saves for Pascack Valley, which picked up its fourth consecutive shutout. Click here to read this coverage from NJ.com.
Roxbury Girls Soccer Advances in State Tournament
 The Roxbury High School girls soccer team defeated Montville on Thursday in state tournament play, a win that advances the Gaels to the semifinals.
Playing at home, the third-seeded Roxbury team shut-out the 11th-seeded Mustangs 4-0. Roxbury saw two goals each by Madison Martino and Ashleigh Sarafin. Assists were made by by Julia Picciallo, Karly Forker, Martino and Sarafin.
The victory brought the Gaels record on the season to 15-2 overall and 7-1 in their conference.

RHS Field Hockey
 Roxbury (1) at Mount Olive (2) - Field Hockey - October 26th
Anna DiRienzo did all of Mount Olive's scoring in its 2-1 win over Roxbury in Flanders.
Gina Verrone and Annalee Smith each had an assist, while Hannah Lake made six saves in the victory.

RHS Football Updates
Roxbury Beats Randolph in Football, Rains on the Rams' Senior Night
 The Roxbury High School football team defeated rival Randolph on Friday 22-14, throwing a wet blanket on the Rams' hopes for a celebratory senior night home game.
The night that started on a high note for Randolph with the team honoring its seniors in a pre-game ceremony. It didn't end that way for the Rams as the Gaels walked away with the victory.
Roxbury demonstrated a quick strike offense that stymied the Rams. All three of the Gaels' TD drives took less than two minutes and each was sparked by big pass plays.
The 22-14 victory boosted the Gaels' season record to 3-5. Football Game Preview: Roxbury vs. West Morris Central
This Friday at 7:00 PM,
West Morris Central (6-2) is pitted against
Roxbury (3-5). West Morris Central has been consistently improving, netting more total points each game than the last for three weeks now.
The state rankings suggested a blowout in West Morris Central's previous game, and that is exactly what happened. It crushed West Morris Mendham last week, winning 42 - 0. At 42 points, that marked West Morris Central's largest margin of victory so far this year. Meanwhile, Roxbury took its game last week by a score of 22 - 14.
The last time they met, West Morris Central took down Roxbury 34 - 17. The rematch might be a little tougher for West Morris Central since the team will be on Roxbury's home field this time. We'll soon find out whether that makes a difference or not.

This is an easy, practically effortless way to raise funds for our schools by purchasing items you buy all the time.

Roxbury Distinguished Alumni Award Nominations are Now Being Accepted
 The Roxbury Public Schools Distinguished Alumni Award has been established to honor alumni who have typified the Roxbury School District tradition of excellence and brought credit to our community by their personal accomplishment, professional achievement, or humanitarian service.
Recipients of this year's award will be honored at Roxbury High School's Academic Awards Night on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in the Roxbury High School Auditorium. Join us in celebrating these distinguished alumni!
Nominations for the 4th Annual Distinguished Alumni Award are now being accepted. Alumni, faculty, staff, students, or friends of Roxbury Schools may submit nominations by no later than February 15, 2018 for the upcoming selection year. Online submissions are preferred and can be located at

Roxbury Alumni Association -- Get Involved!
The Roxbury Alumni Association was established in the early 1900s and formally incorporated in 1968. Every year the Alumni Association provides a scholarship to a graduating senior. The association also purchases a Echo yearbook and donates it to the Roxbury Township Library for its archive.
Membership is only $10 and with your gift, you directly support the ability for the Alumni Association to continue giving a RHS grad a scholarship. You are also supporting the association as it develops new programs and events for you to enjoy.
Looking to get involved? The Roxbury Alumni Association is looking to expand its current board of directors. They are looking for energetic alumni interested in getting involved with the Association and to add new members to its board.  Kid's Country Fusion is Fitness Made Fun! NJEA Convention Camp with Mad Science for Ages 6-11
 Looking for something for your kids to do that's fun and educational during the NJEA Break on November 9th and 10th? Then look no further and register them for Mad Science's Invention-ation camp where children in grades K-6 will overcome a series of challenges using basic materials, simple machines, tips from famous inventors, and the most important of all their minds! With a little bit of ingenuity, campers will create catapults and forts, construct working light sticks to bring home, a set of circuits with batteries and light bulbs!  Join the Accents on Dance Studio in this after-school program for boys and girls in grades K-4. This program is a win/win opportunity for both parents and children. Roxbury Community School Ski Club 2017/2018
The purpose of the Roxbury Community School's Ski and Snowboard Club is to provide students the opportunity to ski and/or snowboard at local mountain resorts. Students will be provided with transportation to and from the mountains. Students will be required to attend meetings, return all necessary forms, and pay a fee for transportation/chape

The Roxbury Community School is dedicated to helping students prepare for college through a few different avenues.
The Roxbury Community School has also partnered with Kaplan SAT/ACT Prep and Lentz & Lentz SAT/ACT Prep to empower students to excel on standardized tests like the SAT's and ACT's.

Yoga for Beginners
 Join this beginner class that introduces you to the fundamental principles of alignment and breath work in a flow of postures linked together by the breath. Participants will be introduced to yoga postures through step-by-step verbal description and demonstration. If you have never tried yoga, this is the class for you! It is designed to meet the needs of those new to yoga as well as those seeking continued understanding of basic yoga poses. This course is ideal for teens and adults. The NJ Clean Communities program is a comprehensive litter abatement program serving NJ residents and visitors for over 25 years.
Roxbury's Adopt-a-Road and Adopt-a-Spot programs are looking for individuals, school groups, churches, or businesses willing to donate some time to continue to keep the township trash and litter free.

CounCty Urges Residents: Keep Plastic Bags Out Of Curbside Recycling Containers
The Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority (MUA) is urging county residents to keep all types of plastic bags out of the recycling content they put at the curb for recycling collection, stressing that plastic bags are a major hindrance to recycling operations. Company Mulls Roxbury Site for Renting Personal Watercraft on Lake Hopatcong
"There's not too much to talk about yet," said Ramsey Outdoor Vice President Michael Levine. "It's still very exploratory."
Levine said the possibility of personal watercraft rentals on Landing Channel was raised during a recent discussion he had with the Lake Hopatcong Foundation. "They wanted me to look at a couple of different sites on the lake," he said. "They would like to see more stuff like kayaking on Lake Hopatcong." Moonlight History & Mystery Cemetery Tour - November 5th
 Come join us for a Moonlight History & Mystery Cemetery Tour at the historic First Presbyterian Church of Succasunna on Sunday, November 5th from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. (rain or shine)! See the final resting place and hear the stories of Lenni Lenape Indians, Revolutionary & Civil War Soldiers, a NJ Governor and others told by costumed characters speaking graveside under the moonlight.
Tours leave continuously.
Bring a flashlight. Only $5.00 per person (includes Cider and Donuts after the tour).
Reservations strongly suggested but walk-ins are welcome.

Lake Hopatcong Foundation Beefsteak & Basket Raffle - November 4th
 Join LHF on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at St. Jude's Church Parish Hall, 40 Maxim Drive, Hopatcong from 6:00 - 9:00 pm for a Beefsteak and Basket Raffle to benefit the Lake Hopatcong Train Station Restoration. The event is BYOB and costs $35 per person.
The evening will feature an old-fashioned beefsteak dinner catered by Hap Nightingale, which includes sliced beef tenderloin on fresh cut bread, salad, French fries, ice cream sundaes, coffee, tea, & soft drinks. There will be a short presentation about the station, a basket raffle with lots of exciting prizes, & more!

Boy Scout Troop 159 Pancake Breakfast - November 4th
 A Pancake Breakfast will be sponsored by Roxbury Boy Scout Troop 159 and will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church on Eyland Avenue n Succasunna on Saturday, November 4th from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Cost is $8 for adults, $5 for seniors and children 3-10 years old. Children under 3 are free. Please help the scouts earn money toward troop activities and equipment purchases.

Tickets are $10 per Adult, $8 per Child age 5-12, Children under 5 years old are free. Proceeds support the Youth Activities Fund that helps defray the cost of retreats, camps,

Cat's in the Cradle & Harry Chapin Band's in Roxbury
 When you get a minute, count all the grains of sand on all the beaches of the world. Compare that tally to the number of times you've heard Harry Chapin's classic "Cat's in the Cradle."
Pretty close, right?
But few people get tired of sandy beaches, and the same is likely true when, yet again, you hear the first notes and words, of that 43-year-old heart-tugger : "My child arrived just the other day. He came to the world in the usual way."
Harry Chapin died in 1981. However, you can enjoy hearing the song performed perfectly on Saturday, November 4th - right here in Roxbury - by the Harry Chapin Band, an ensemble that includes Chapin's brother, Steve, and some musicians who played with Harry for decades.
The 7:30 p.m. show, at the Investor's Bank Theater in Succasunna, is being presented by the Roxbury Arts Alliance.
The non-profit organization operates on a shoestring budget and is hoping to fill the house Saturday to help defray the cost of hiring the 5-member Harry Chapin Band, the most expensive performer in this year's concert schedule. Tickets, available
online, are $35.
The last time the band played at the Investor's Bank Theater, they filled the house quickly, so get those tickets soon. To read more about the band, check out this

Retelling of Three Christmas Classics
 Join JAM Theater Co. this holiday season for a bit of mystery, magic and mayhem, as they retell three Christmas Classics in their own comedic way. Filled with laughs, interactions and some pop culture too, this show is sure to help you get into the Holiday Spirit. Featuring: The Elves and the Shoemaker, Twas the Night Before Christmas and The Santa Claus Letter. Performances are Saturday, November 18th and December 2nd at noon and 3 p.m. and Sunday, November 19th and December 3rd at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 for Adults, Children and Senior Citizens are $8, and Children under two are free to see on adults laps.

 Carpenter & King is a dual tribute which merges two iconic female vocalist/instrumentalists, Karen Carpenter and Carole King. Wreaths Across American - Sponsor a Wreath
 The Ferro Monte Chapter DAR is organizing the 4th Roxbury Wreaths Across America. Our mission is to honor veterans by laying 607 wreaths on the graves of the departed servicemen and women on December 16 in the Flanders-Hillside, First Presbyterian Church and United Methodist Church cemeteries.
Plans are underway for the 2017 Roxbury 'Home for the Holidays' event!
 This year's event will take place on Saturday December 2, 2017 from 11:00 am until 5:00 pm on Main Street in the Succasunna section of town.
This year's Home for the Holidays will be another fun-filled, family event with craft and merchandise vendors, food vendors, carriage rides with jingle-belled horses, Santa Land at the Library and live performances by various artists.
