BJBE once again showed its heart and generosity. Thanks to contributions of gift cards, tzedakah and hurricane relief supplies, we donated over $8000 to disaster relief in Texas, the Caribbean, Mexico City and fire ravaged California. The beneficiaries of these donations extend their sincerest, heartfelt thanks to our amazing community.
We look forward to celebrating the Bat Mitzvah of Monica Cohen at the morning service and the B'nai Mitzvah of Ryan Wilkov and Elly Siegel at the Havdalah service this Saturday. Mazel tov to them and their families.
L'shalom,
Arlene

SOCIAL ACTION NETWORK
Project Nourish Thanksgiving Event:
Each year BJBE, along with the other temples in our Project Nourish consortium, helps Bethlehem Healing Temple, the distribution center of our lunch delivery, with their Thanksgiving Event. Together we supply all the ingredients for them to cook a Thanksgiving meal for about 500 people that live near the church, some of whom live on the street. Many of these people also line up every Sunday to receive the lunches that we make.
How can you help? The best way is to donate to our Bob Terry Project Nourish Fund so we can then buy all the bulk ingredients we are responsible for as well as contribute to the shared cost of the meats that are cooked. It is a way to directly impact the lives of people who are under- served as well as overlooked in our society. Holidays can be lonely and difficult times and just knowing that other people care is such a positive message to send to those who need it most.
Thank you for your consideration, Merrilee Waldron, Project Nourish Coordinator
We are collecting toiletries, hearing aids, glasses, printer cartridges, and batteries,
and new kids' hats and gloves. These much-needed items will be donated to Families Helping Families of Chicagoland, and will be distributed to kids in our community.
We are NOT collecting used clothing at this time. Thank you for your generous donations.
Jewish Child & Family Services (JCFS) provides Holiday gifts for over 500 needy children receiving agency services such as counseling, foster care, respite, and other essential support services. Please join Sisterhood for the month of November in supporting this toy drive by donating a new, unwrapped toy. There is a collection box in the tzedakah nook. To make a cash or gift card donation, please contact Sharon Sabin. Thank you in advance for your participation in this project.
Luggage For Freedom packs suitcases and backpacks for women and children who have been living in a shelter because of domestic abuse. As the women prepare to leave the shelter to begin a new life, Luggage For Freedom provides them with new bedding, toiletries, books, and other items to make their transition easier. Tzedakah donations in November will be designated to buy new sheets and towels.
