Walnut Creek Eyes Inclusionary Hikes
Walnut Creek proposes to increase its on-site affordable housing inclusionary percentages for ownership residential developments, and, thanks to a new state law passed earlier this year, expand its rules to allow rental developers to build units for the poor on-site rather than just pay a fee. Under the proposal, developers of "for sale" projects would see their inclusionary percentage requirements increase from 10 percent to 15 percent for moderate income households, 7 percent to 11 percent low income and 6 percent to 8 percent for very-low income. East Contra Costa HCP Seeks PAC Member
The East Contra Costa County Habitat Conservancy is seeking to fill an opening on its public advisory committee for a private landowner or agriculturalist. The PAC consists of three members from the development community, three representatives from the conservation community and three private landowners and/or agriculturalist and three representatives of suburban or rural residents within the HCP area. NASA and the U.S. General Services Administration are seeking formal proposals to construct a minimum of 1,930 rental housing units and associated retail within the NASA Ames Research Center at Moffett Field. 2018 New Gen Applications Available Now
The BIA's New Gen is an organization designed to empower and educate those new to the building industry. Each year a new "class" will be formed. Through educational seminars and fiÂeld trips, each class will gain an understanding of the life cycle of a development project, while fostering long-lasting relationships with the members of their class and the participating builders. With the industry's holistic involvement and commitment to this program, each graduating class will be empowered and encouraged to remain engaged in the BIA, and its leadership opportunities, throughout their careers.

Bay Area Business Community supports Band Together Bay Area - November 9
The business community is developing a unified response to the North Bay fires. It's called
Band Together. Led by some of the region's largest employers and business groups, Band Together is a benefit concert on November 9th at AT&T Park to raise money to support North Bay Fire relief and rebuild. We see this as a major opportunity for the business community to mobilize and make a significant contribution. Some companies have pledged $25,000. Some have pledged $2 million. Any donation is welcome. Companies who are able to donate over $25,000 will be recognized in Band Together concert materials and receive tickets to the concert, which will feature Metallica, Dave Mathew's Band and G-Easy.

All funds raised will be distributed by the highly regarded non-profit group, Tipping Point, to organizations like the North Bay Fire Fund, Catholic Charities, Napa Community Foundation to name a few, for short term relief but also mid and long term investments.
