From Pastor Julie -
Beloved Community,

I want to thank those among us whose care and efforts insured that all who were in Christmas Eve and Christmas Day worship experienced the awe and wonder of the Incarnation.

Thanks to Laurie Baughman for taking care of setting two communion preps back to back!  And thanks for the wonderful luminaries she made to put out along the sidewalk on the Greenwood side; they really lit up the evening!

Thanks to Gordon Trombley for polishing all of the brass, changing the hymn board, working on the Greenwood sign, and spending a great deal of time getting the space ready for our worship.

Thanks to the choir for their beautiful music on Christmas Eve.

Thanks to Katy Sarff for her lovely Christmas Day anthem.

Thanks to Lennon for his music and his leadership.

Thanks to Bruce Hutson for strumming a bit of Silent Night on Christmas Eve.

Thanks to Katy Sarff for her diligence in producing three bulletins in a very short period of time.

Thanks to all of the worship leaders:  Grace, Kyle, Heidi, Diane, Donna, Gavin, Katy, and Gordon.

Finally, thank you to those of you who came to worship, greeted the guests in the building, and lent your voices and your presence to our worship of the new born Christ child.

See you in church,
Pastor Julie+

Sunday's Scripture Readings:
First Reading
  Isaiah 63:7-9
God does not delegate divine intervention to a messenger or angel. God's own presence brings salvation. The prophet and all who read these words join in celebrating God's gracious deeds. God trusts that God's people will not act falsely.

Second Reading
Hebrews 2:10-18
Through Jesus' suffering and death, the trail to eternal salvation has been blazed for us. We do not fear death, because he has conquered the power of death. Thus Christ, our merciful and faithful high priest, has the final say over the destiny of our lives.

Gospe l
 Matthew 2:13-23
Matthew relates the slaughter of babies in Bethlehem as one example of evil in the world. Jesus has been born into this world to manifest God's presence and save his people from their sins.
