November 7th: "The Live-Saving Vaccine the World Has Never Heard of..." hosted by IVAC, National Geographic Magazine, and the Gates Foundation
On November 7th, the International Vaccine Access Center, in collaboration with the National Geographic Society and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, will host a panel in light of the upcoming World Pneumonia Day and
a recent National Geographic feature story on the crucial need for vaccine access around the world.

November 7th- 9th: Accelerating Access to Oxygen convening in Dubai
PATH, in collaboration with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and global partners - the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), and World Health Organization (WHO) - is hosting the
A2O2: Accelerating Access to Oxygen, on November 7- 9 in Dubai. The convening will discuss best practices and challenges for ensuring consistent access to safe oxygen delivery (i.e., oxygen therapy with use of pulse oximetry). Stay tuned for takeaways and blog posts to follow up.
November 9th: DefeatDD "State of the Field" report launches Chapter on the Integrated Approach
On November 9th, ahead of both World Pneumonia Day and World Toilet Day, DefeatDD will begin to release its second state of the field report "Stop the Cycle of Diarrheal Diseases" chapter by chapter with the full report released on November 17th. The report will serve as an exciting resource to inform advocacy efforts to prevent diarrheal disease.
National Geographic: "Here's Why Vaccines Are So Crucial"

The National Geographic Magazine article, authored by Cynthia Gorney, offers an introduction to the history of the PCV and the global efforts currently being undertaken to make the vaccines accessible to all children, featuring Dr. Samir Saha, Director of the Child Health Research Foundation, with input from Dr. Orin Levine, Director of Vaccine Delivery at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and Dr. Katherine O'Brien, Director of the International Vaccine Access Center.
The Progress Report, issued by theInternational Vaccine Access Center at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, provides an update on efforts to prevent and treat pneumonia and diarrhea in the most heavily burdened countries. This scorecard, released annually, finds that although countries are making progress in increasing coverage of vaccines and in reaching breastfeeding goals, treatment targets still seem far out of reach for most. Efforts to work and invest more strategically in all three areas - immunization, nutrition and treatment - are critical to meaningfully reducing the nearly 1.5 million childhood deaths that still occur each year as a result of pneumonia and diarrhea.

Healthline's "What Pneumonia Does to the Body" Tool
Healthline's new interactive tool demonstrates the devastating effects pneumonia has on the entire body, not just the lungs. The tool's explanations of the potential harm of pneumonia gives us another reason of why we must continue to invest in #ChildHealth to reduce deaths from pneumonia and the overall disease burden.
