SPEAKER'S TASK FORCE ON FOSTER CARE

The Speaker's Task Force on Foster Care held its first meeting on Thursday, June 27. The task force is co-chaired by Rep. Patrick Snyder (R-Schofield) and Rep. Steve Doyle (D-Onalaska).

The Wisconsin Counties Association (WCA) was invited to speak and turned to our experts at the Wisconsin County Human Service Association (WCHSA) for assistance. Representing counties at the hearing were the following individuals:
  • Chuck Price, President, Wisconsin County Human Service Association; Waupaca County Health and Human Services Director
  • Ray Przybelski, Vice President, Wisconsin County Human Service Association; Portage County Health and Human Services Director 
  • Diane Cable, Co-Chair, Children, Youth, and Families Policy Advisory Committee, WCHSA; Eau Claire County Human Services Director

Additional meetings of the task force will be scheduled over the next few months. Potential locations for the meetings include La Crosse, Green Bay, Wausau, Dodgeville, and Milwaukee.

Assembly Committee on Health, 11:00 a.m.
Assembly Bill 310 - funding for first responder and emergency medical technician training and certification and making an appropriation. WCA is monitoring this bill.

Assembly Bill 311 - upgrading service levels for ambulances in rural areas. WCA is monitoring this bill.

Assembly Bill 356 - licensure or certificate renewal for certain emergency medical services personnel and ambulance service providers. WCA is monitoring this bill.
