O God, the protector of all who trust in you, without whom nothing is strong, nothing is holy: Increase and multiply upon us your mercy; that, with you as our ruler and guide, we may so pass through things temporal, that we lose not the things eternal; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.  Amen.

No Place Like Home
Dorothy had it right. There's no place like home. After 19 days away, three countries, three currencies, and seven different beds, I had an amazing experience away but it is always good to be home. Thank you to everyone who filled in and went the extra mile during my absence. I am so grateful to be able to return and nothing had missed a beat.  I very much look forward to being back at the altar and in the pulpit this Sunday. There is much to say and much to do and much to look forward to. I can sincerely say after visiting England, France, and Wyoming, that St Timothy's continues to shine, inviting all to breath this rarefied air. I can't wait to take a deep breath with you this Sunday.   ~ Fr Steve
About the bulletin art
For the past few weeks, the bulletin art has come from Nikola Saric, an Orthodox artist from Serbia. I found his works while searching for art depicting the parable of the seed and sower. I recognized his icon of the Martyrs of Libya, which is similar to the one hanging in our nave from another artist. I am enchanted by his work. Especially in regards to the parables, he presents familiar stories from a challenging perspective. His work is both contemporary yet clearly in the style of traditional iconography. To view more of his work, please click here.  ~ Fr Steve
Requiescat in Pace | Kathie Hatfield
Of your charity, please pray for the repose of Kathie Hatfield, who died last week. Funeral arrangements will be printed when they are known. Rest eternal grant unto her, O Lord, and let light perpetual shine upon her.
St. Tim's Women's Summer Book Study

This summer women from St.Tim's (and friends too!) are invited to join in a time of fellowship and discussion around the book, "Present Over Perfect" by Shauna Niequist.  This book study grew out of the desire of a few women at St.Tim's who wanted a chance to connect, slow down, and grow together this summer--in a way that was easy to squeeze into our summer schedules. Many of us are members at Peace Haven Pool--so we are meeting at the pool on Wednesday nights 6-7pm.  Non-members of the pool are welcome to join us too for $5/person--pool guest fee for Forsyth County residents.  Pool address is 420 Hearthside Dr.  Kids who can swim are welcomed to come and swim.  If others want to start another group at another location--please contact  katie@sttimothys.ws. The book is widely available in stores and online.
Grace Dinners | Great Fellowship Opportunity
Fellowship by definition means a group of people meeting to pursue a shared interest or aim, and thus Christian fellowship's shared aim is looking to Christ - to love like Jesus, pray like Jesus, serve like Jesus, act like Jesus.  We need each to help us on our journey.

Grace Dinners are dinner groups that meet regularly from September-May each year (usually every four to six weeks).  They are a wonderful avenue for getting to know your fellow parishioners.  All are welcome to join – couples, singles, and families. If you have younger children under 13, please indicate so when you sign up and you will be put in a group with other children.  If you do not have young children, but wish to be grouped those who do, please indicate that.

Join us! If you are a returning participant, email Jon and Sally Cowgill at cowgillj@att.net and if you are new, please click here. Again, please do indicate whether or not you would prefer a group with other families that have children under 13. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Jon or Sally.  The Grace Dinner potluck kick-off will be August 20th at 6:00pm in Drake Hall and the deadline for registering is August 13th.

From the Choir Loft
For the remainder of the summer,  you are invited to join the  9am choir. We rehearse  Sunday mornings at  8:25am in the choir loft. You are also invited to audition to sing in the  11am choir. Please contact me at  christin@sttimothys.ws or  336-406-0134 if you are interested in joining us this summer or fall.

Johann Crüger (1598-1662) composed the tune  Jesu, meine Freude for the text "Jesu, meine Freude" by Johann Franck (1618-1677), later translated into English by Arthur Wellesley Wotherspoon (1853-1936).  J.S. Bach incorporated this tune into four of his cantatas (12, 64, 81, and 87) and composed  a beautiful motet and several organ preludes on the melody. This Sunday Mark Ardrey-Graves will play one of J.S. Bach's organ prelude BWV 1105, and the choir will sing an alternate version of the hymn, printed in our  1982 Hymnal.

Jesus, all my gladness,
my repose in sadness,
Jesus, heaven to me;
ah, my heart long plaineth,
ah, my spirit straineth,
longeth after thee!
Thine I am, O holy Lamb;
only where thou art is pleasure,
thee alone I treasure.

Hymns this Sunday:
God of grace and God of glory, No. 594
O day of God, draw nigh, No. 601
Be thou my vision, O Lord of my heart, No. 488
Here, O my Lord, No. 318
O worship the King, 388

Prelude: Prelude on " Slane," Healey Willan
Postlude: Jesu meine Freude, BWV 1105, Johann Sebastian Bach
