Principal's Coffee & Book Club

Please join Mr. Connor this Wednesday, November 8th from 9:15-9:35am for Principal's Coffee in Room 411.  He will also be continuing his new Book Club, "Book and a Blether" (Blether is a Scottish word for "chat") from 9:35-10:00am.   The book being discussed is  Opening Minds  by Peter Johnston.  Wednesday's discussion will be on chapters 3 and 4.

Spelling Bee 

3rd-5th Graders - Register for the Walnut Grove Spelling Bee!

The Spelling Bee is coming to Walnut Grove on Tuesday, December 12th at 4:00 pm in the Multi-Purpose Room. It is open to all 3rd through 5th graders.Could this be your first step to the Scripps National Spelling Bee?? Come give it a try.

Multicultural Fair 

Our 4th Multicultural Fair will be on December 15, 2017. The theme this year is "Flags". We have representation for the following geographical regions so far:
 
Brazil                
India                  
Japan                 
Malaysia
Scotland
South Korea
Sweden
USA
 
We would love to have representation from more regions. Because we need to begin preparing for this fun event, please contact  Swati Raul by November 13th if you would like to represent a geographical region .
 
Yearbook Photos

We've had some big events at Walnut Grove recently, and we would love your photos for the yearbook.  

If you have any pictures of the Fun Run, Monster Mash, Halloween, Reflections Art or just daily school life, please  submit them to [email protected]. Please be sure to label the event and the teachers name (if applicable) on your emails.

Note: Please submit only f ull resolution photos, particularly from smart phones.  We get lots of great pictures, but if the resolution is not high enough, we are unable to use them.
 
Birthday Ice Cream Table

Every month, the PTA hosts a Birthday Ice Cream table for students with birthdays in that month.   It's a favorite day for the kids and is equally fun to work!  

We are looking for volunteers to serve ice cream during lunch throughout the year. Each shift is for a 3 lunch periods from  about 11:20am to 12:50pm.

Box Tops for Education 

Thank you to everyone who has turned in Box Tops. We have earned $455 so far this school year, almost half way to our goal!

A few reminders when collecting box tops:

  1. Clip the box top from the package (please cut on the dotted line).
  2. Collect them in a ziploc bag and turn them in each month (no need to keep them adding up around the house).
  3. Put your students name, grade level and their teachers name on the ziploc bag (or on a piece of paper in the bag).
  4. Have your student place the bag in the collection box located in the front office.
  5. If you have already started collecting box tops, PLEASE check the expiration date before turning them in.
